Adam was a graduate of Lake Hamilton in 1992.

Please pray for his family.  He was a true hero.

Navy SEAL Chief (SOC) Adam Brown was killed in action in Kunar Province, Afghanistan on March 16, 2010.  In true "Adam Brown Style" he died a true hero, placing himself in the line of fire to protect other members of his unit.  Adam's Special Ops Assault Team was assaulting an enemy compound, an operation Adam had performed many times.  The U.S. Forces were engaging the enemy in a fire fight, when a portion of the U.S. soldiers were pinned down by very heavy fire from the enemy compound.   In an effort to protect his men, Adam charged the enemy and was firing on the enemy from a better vantage point, drawing fire away from his pinned down comrades.  His selfless action relieved the fire on his men, but it unfortunately resulted in Adam being struck by enemy fire.  One other member of the American Team was wounded, but Adam's heroic action saved the other men.  The enemy compound was captured and all enemy combatants were killed in the action.

Adam was a 12 year veteran of the United States Navy, with several tours of duty overseas.  He is survived by his wife and two children.
A veteran is someone who at one point in his life wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for the amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor. There are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that.

Along w/ Lake Hamilton a country also lost a hero. Prayers to a fallen hero's family.

Below are some very powerful words these great men live and die by.

The Seal Creed:
In times of war or uncertainty there is a special breed of warrior ready to answer our Nation's call. A common man with uncommon desire to succeed. Forged by adversity, he stands alongside America's finest special operations forces to serve his country, the American people, and protect their way of life. I am that man.
My Trident is a symbol of honor and heritage. Bestowed upon me by the heroes that have gone before, it embodies the trust of those I have sworn to protect. By wearing the Trident I accept the responsibility of my chosen profession and way of life. It is a privilege that I must earn every day.
My loyalty to Country and Team is beyond reproach. I humbly serve as a guardian to my fellow Americans always ready to defend those who are unable to defend themselves. I do not advertise the nature of my work, nor seek recognition for my actions. I voluntarily accept the inherent hazards of my profession, placing the welfare and security of others before my own.
I serve with honor on and off the battlefield. The ability to control my emotions and my actions, regardless of circumstance, sets me apart from other men. Uncompromising integrity is my standard. My character and honor are steadfast. My word is my bond.
We expect to lead and be led. In the absence of orders I will take charge, lead my teammates and accomplish the mission. I lead by example in all situations.
I will never quit. I persevere and thrive on adversity. My Nation expects me to be physically harder and mentally stronger than my enemies. If knocked down, I will get back up, every time. I will draw on every remaining ounce of strength to protect my teammates and to accomplish our mission. I am never out of the fight.
We demand discipline. We expect innovation. The lives of my teammates and the success of our mission depend on me - my technical skill, tactical proficiency, and attention to detail. My training is never complete.
We train for war and fight to win. I stand ready to bring the full spectrum of combat power to bear in order to achieve my mission and the goals established by my country. The execution of my duties will be swift and violent when required yet guided by the very principles that I serve to defend.
Brave men have fought and died building the proud tradition and feared reputation that I am bound to uphold. In the worst of conditions, the legacy of my teammates steadies my resolve and silently guides my every deed. I will not fail.

Have you ever listened to someone  or read what they put into thoughts and wondered...."who ties your shoelaces for you?"

Thank you Adam. You were a true hero for this country.

My prayers go out to his family and loved ones in this time of need.
If it turns, burns, banks or rolls, crew chiefs made it happen.

Hogville prediction formula:

1.  Insert bad news prediction. A loss, a recruit going elsewhere, a coach leaving, etc.
2.  Tag "hope I'm wrong," on the end.
3a.  Enjoy a correct prediction.
3b.  Act like you're relieved you're wrong and celebrate with everyone else.

Anyone that knew Adam growing up remembers he was a skinny kid that refused to quit.  He reminds me of the scene in Cool Hand Luke where he is fighting the guy and getting pounded but won't stay down.  That was Adam.

Thanks for the prayers.  his family will appreciate them

"So others may live."

Thank you to all who have given their life in service of this country so we may continue to live free.

My ability to watch and enjoy sports in the comfort of my home, with my loving family by my side, is a direct result of the fearlessness, intelligence, loyalty and sacrifice of our awesome men and women of our armed forces.  May God bring peace to your family and friends ... even though I have never met Adam, I am honored to have been part of his Razorback family...

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Hampton Roads-based Navy SEAL has died in Afghanistan, the Navy announced Friday.
Chief Special Warfare Operator Adam Lee Brown, 36, was killed during combat operations on March 18th.
Officials say Brown, a distinguished and highly decorated combat veteran, was fatally wounded during a battle with heavily armed militants. Brown was forward deployed to Afghanistan as part of an East Coast based SEAL Team.
"Adam Brown was a brave American patriot and fantastic Navy SEAL. We are deeply saddened by this tremendous loss of a fellow brother in arms and teammate," said a senior officer in Brown's command in a statement released by the Navy. "Our heart goes out to the Brown family during this very difficult time and we, in the Naval Special Warfare community, will never forget the ultimate sacrifice that Adam made for our nation and its people."
Brown, a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, is survived by his wife and two children, who live in Virginia Beach, and his parents in Hot Springs.
Brown enlisted in the Navy in August, 1998. Since April, 2001, he has been assigned to various East Coast based SEAL teams where he made several combat deployments in support of the Global War on Terror, distinguishing himself during numerous combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Navy said Brown was a highly-decorated combat veteran and received numerous awards and citations during his 12-year Navy career, including the Bronze Star with combat "V" distinguishing device; Purple Heart; Joint Service Commendation Medal with combat "V" distinguishing device; Joint Service Achievement Medal; Five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals' Three Good Conduct Medals; the National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Marksmanship medals for both rifle and pistol, and a multitude of personal, unit, and campaign decorations.

Yes that was his brother.   what year did you graduate?

In 1986, I was a year or two ahead of Shawn.  Shawn was a great football player.  I remember Adam coming to our practice to watch him.  He was so proud of his big brother.   I haven't seen Shawn or Adam since then because I moved to NWA to go to the UofA after graduating high school.

My heart goes out to the entire family.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Thank you to everyone that came out today to welcome Adam home.  Thank you to the Patriot Guard Riders and the VFW Honor Guard.  There were probably close to 1500 people there.

He was brought home by several of his SEAL Team members including the young man that carried him off the battlefield.  I had the distinct honor of shaking their hands.  These guys are true heroes.  Thank you to them and all of the former and current soldiers who protect us and sacrifice for us at home.

we found out today that he was awarded a ton of other medals that nobody ever knew about and were not listed above.  He was a true hero.  From everything I have heard, he is quite possibly being recommended for the Medal of Honor for his actions.

Chief Petty Officer Adam Lee Brown was laid to rest this afternoon at Cunningham Cemetery in Hot Springs, AR.  In a very emotional moment, close to 100 of his SEAL brothers, one at a time, walked to the casket, saluted and then with their fists hammered all of their Tridents into the casket.

He was a rabid Hog Fan and there were several pictures of him overseas wearing Razorback gear and holding up the Arkansas flag.

Adam was a true patriot, a tremendous Father, Husband and Son.  Adam died a hero and he will be sorely missed.

The Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't Because those of us who carry guns Can't always be a saint."

"I've had to work most Sundays And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough."

"But, I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills just got too steep."

"And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times, I shook with fear, And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears."

"I know I don't deserve a place Among most people here, as They never wanted me around Except to calm their fears."

"If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand, I never expected or had too much, So if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God,

"Step forward now you soldier, You've borne your burdens well, Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell."

RIP warrior

I hung out with some of his SEAL team members Tuesday night.  Those guys are tighter than tight.  They also said Adam was going to be approved for the Silver Star for his actions on 3/16/10.  I didn't know this, but the Silver Star is the third highest medal that is awarded in the Navy.  Only behind the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross.  I was proud to call Adam a friend and teammate.
