Just to clarify; I don't necesarilly agree, nor disagree with Whitlock's column.  I simply thought it was thought provoking and provided the link so others could read.

Break & Run

no he shouldn't. he's the best golfer ever. all athletes end up having an affair, it's nothing new.

"I can't be cliché and say 'Call the Hogs,' but I think I have to.  That's just something that sets our university apart.  When you're out on the field and everyone in the stadium stands up, it's amazing.  Even when we're at a football or basketball game, just to see that many people around you doing the same thing for you when you're on the field or for the other guys who are playing, it's pretty awesome."

Thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard.  Go win the Masters and no one will remember.

All athletes, politicians, etc.  These days, I'm just relived at the ones who were not caught in boys bathrooms or in a barn.
they all do it because they all feel as though they are above any kind of moral code. Sadly, no one cares anymore, so if he comes back and wins tournaments, he'll be redeemed.

"One of the dumbest things i heard was when Brit Hume [of Fox News] said Tiger should abandon his Buddhism and turn to Christianity."

Yet another reason Fox News has no business being on television.  Go ahead, Tiger, abandon your faith so you can accomodate the faith we the inept news show chooses as being the right one.

kingofdequeen

The Golf Writers know better.  If they get 1" on the wrong side of Eldrick, they will lose access to their golden goose.

to quote Briny Baird:  "my kids are going to college b/c of Tiger Woods".

Hes an anylist now not an anchor do you realize the difference? All he said was that he thought Christianity offered redemption and forgiveness which was what he needed and that Buddhism didn't offer that. People are no longer aloud to have an opinion?

Hawgon

Professional golfers are probably a bit torn.  They probably like the lack of Tiger hoopla out there right now, but of course, the lack of hoopla hurts them as well.

I would imagine most want him to come back and to be competitive, but not overpowering.  They want him to come back.  They just want him to suck a little so that the rest of them can win some tournaments.

vandybuff

bye for now - I feel a bit guilty starting this thread......

I've known both networks to really screw the pooch on...well everything...so i wouldnt be surprised if this came out of Hume's mouth or if ESPiN embellished the truth.
