I don't even know what to say.
I know what to say. The NCAA doesn't have to have a whole lot of evidence to punish schools in regards to students getting paid high amounts of money. Bob Stoops and his program almost got in trouble a couple of years ago because he found out about his players making ungodly amounts of money and didn't throw them off the team immediately. If the NCAA found no violation, then I can live with Memphis High not being in trouble.
Willy Kemp got $25K? Wonder what Rose and CDR was worth?
I've said all along that Calicrappy and Tiger High was cheating. I can't wait until the NCAA comes down on their butt big time! It couldn't happen to a better bunch of fans, Tiger high fans are some of the most obnoxious and delusional fans in America. Maybe when the NCAA comes calling we can move right into to Memphis and steal their best players from them again. I'd love to see their BB program crash and burn!
He has cheated for so long that he will not get caught. He is smart enough to cover his tracks on this one. Who would tell? Fedex or the players?
Funny thing...Memphis' ENTIRE starting line-up has now declared for the NBA draft today...http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/news/story?id=3363956
There have been two really good players from Arkansas sign and play for Memphis during my time. Dexter Reed from Little Rock Parkview and Keith Lee from West Memphis. I grew up in eastern Arkansas and was a Memphis State fan in basketball and All Hog in football. Reed came out the year before Brewer and Delph and two years before Moncrief and right before Eddie Sutton took the UA job. I would say Reed was bigger than any of those and played for MSU the year after they lost to Bill Walton and UCLA in the championship game. He was a great player as a frosh (18 ppg) but injured his knee and was never the same. My older brother came home from a MSU game and told me he sat in front of some big money people (Bud Davis Cadillac). The wife was talking about taking Dexter out on a shopping spree and how much he like buying clothes. The story told about Keith Lee envolved a shoe box full of money ($10,000) and got coach Dana Kirk fired and some NCAA sanctions. Lee had a sick mother and a bunch of younger siblings to take care of. ASU was not clean in his recruitment either and Frank used that imformation and some other things involving Ricky Norton and Michael Cage to make sure Lee didn't attend ASU who he had earlier committed to. Memphis definitely does not have a clean track record.
This is silly... you guys are clueless. By the way, Calipari is now the 2nd highest paid college bball coach in the country - 2nd only to Billy Donovan at Fla. Cal is one of the 3 or 4 best combo recruiters/coaches in the world and he's worth every penny. Great guy.
I have a friend that goes to Memphis and plays football. He told me when you drive by their bball practice facility, almost every player is getting out of a lexus or cadillac. All new model luxury cars.
I have a friend...and his name is John Calipari. Your friend plays for a 3rd rate football program and I am certain has no clue what is going on and is lying to get a rise out of you. Don't believe everything you hear.
Give these 2 a break. If they live in Memphis they've suffered enough. What a cesspool.
I gurantee you Memphis is better than your city.
topic says "President"..I can assure you he knew what he was typing.
You seriously don't think it has gone on this long with Calipari telling all of his "friends"You may think, just because you didn't know it was going on and you know Calipari that its not going on, but that is a very naive statement and one of arrogance to think you know all the workings of a programI didn't post the other sources that this came from. They aren't sources that you can exactly refute. Some have been in the room when the money is handed over. They are die hard UT fans but they aren't going to roll on their boss, and his clan. And Memphis is a better city than ours? Is that why the show the First 48 is based in Memphis, simply because it's one of the only cities where a murder is guaranteed often enough to make a show. The #2 most dangerous metropolitan area in the Nation behind only Detroit. Ranked #1 in violent crimes in 2006. Also, rated by Forbes as the laziest city in America. But it's ok, at least you have Graceland, right?
There's more to a city than a crime rate..I guess Dallas and Miami are crapy cities too since they are on the first 48 as much as memphis..
Oftentimes, It's best to keep quiet so people don't know you are less intelligent than they would otherwise realize.
I like Calipari and would have loved for him to coach the Hogs.If Memphis is cheating this bad, they will get caught. To assume it's all true - comes across as sour grapes.
