49-4 was this years combined record for Kansas' two main sports this season. 12-1 record with an Orange Bowl victory for the football team, and a 37-3 record with a National Championship for the basketball team.

This combined record has to be one the best in recent history. What other programs have had this type of success within the same year? I'm sure there are a few. Anybody think of some others?

Yes thats very good, but I think the success Texass had a couple of years ago trumps it. National title in Football, World series title in baseball, and elite 8 appearance by basketball. Maybe not trumps it, but certainly not bad.

Florida last year:  13-1 Football, 35-5 Basketball
Ohio State last year :
12-1 Football,  35-4 Basketball.

It's not typical, but it's not unheard of, either.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I forgot about Florida last year. Their accomplishment may never have an equal.

J.A.Y.

that's also very close to Petrino's record while at Louisille.....

just sayin'
There are Three things in life that matter... GOD, Family and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The rest you can deal with if you have any time left over.

we would've won 12 games with that football schedule.

So we get spanked 38-7 by Missouri but we would have won 12 games playing a Big 12 schedule?  Um, ok.

you do realize they didn't play OU or UT right?
or that the only ranked team they beat in the regular season was a then #24 ranked K-State team (they finished unranked)
i'm sure you didn't bother to look that deep, just shot off a smart alleck remark.
and yes, i still believe we could've gone 12-1 with this schedule

September 1   Central Michigan    W 52-7   1-0 (0-0)
September 8   Southeastern Louisiana    W 62-0   2-0 (0-0)
September 15   Toledo    W 45-13   3-0 (0-0)
September 22   Florida International    W 55-3   4-0 (0-0)
October 6   at No. 24 Kansas State    W 30-24   5-0 (1-0)
October 13   Baylor    W 58-10   6-0 (2-0)
October 20   at Colorado    W 19-14   7-0 (3-0)
October 27   at Texas A&M    W 19-11   8-0 (4-0)
November 3   Nebraska    W 76-39   9-0 (5-0)
November 10   at Oklahoma State    W 43-28   10-0 (6-0)
November 17   Iowa State    W 45-7   11-0 (7-0)
November 24   No. 4 Missouri    L 36-28   11-1 (7-1)
January 3   vs No. 3 Virginia Tech    W 24-21   12-1 (7-1)

We wouldn't have won 12 games with that schedule and you know it. Houston would have lost 3 games by himself.

I agree that we could've gone 12-1 with that schedule. I do think Houston would've blown one or two games, but KU's schedule broke perfectly for them.

We lost 4 last year, against a much more imposing schedule than that;  find 4 losses for last year's Hogs on that list, anywhere

Missouri-- sure-- but anyone else?  Maybe OSU?

Even Nutt couldn't screw that up.

In 1995 we went 40-12 in the 2 major sports

Memphis this year went 44-9 if I'm not mistaken.
