It's great to have a place where we can remain somewhat untouched by the MSM, and too many possible good threads will be cut off by 5 posts of why we should fire HDN, keep HDN, who the replacement candidates are. Let people wallow in their own self pity without mucking up a good forum.

I consider MMQB the main forum and that's where I spend most of my time.  Why should BBall get relegated to a secondary forum when that's where all the positive energy is.

I would hope that as football season winds down most of the talk turns to Basketball.

Although there will be an onslaught once Houston leaves so it might be hard to keep up with Basketball during the coaching searc/drama.

Maybe start a new forum once the season truly implodes or Houston is stuff canned.  Call it "Days of our Hawgs" the place to go for all the drama.  Let the b!tching, crying, hating, hugging and rumor mongoring fly.

Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Bomis Hawg

No.

When the season hits, I want to post quite a bit of stats and such about the team come the season.
Personally, having people spend time doing that and having it lost in 3 pages or the same topics here hurts it.

Hopefully, Biggus and Niels Boar will add like they normally do.
It worked WONDERS for the baseball team this year.

SPAL

im with bomis....

no offense to the great posters of this forum...but there is much better convo about basketball over there...i fear that if brought over here, rumors and conspiracy about nutt and the offseason turmoil and other crap will take away from the great discussion that takes place on that board....

I say we keep basketball in the basketball forum.

Brand X Hog Fan

Bring  basketball back to MMQB and create a forum for Nutt. You can call it "Coachwatch" and maybe get pics of Notshavin and uglyuncle's avatars in red singlets for the the official threat avatar.

I say yes...everyone seems to hang out in MMQB anyway...

The only reason i would like to keep the BB threads in the jumpball forum is so they aren't lost with the 50 fire nutt posts that come up/stay up in MMQB...

No. If someone is interested in the basketball team, all they have to do is go to the jump ball forum. No sense in having to put on our boots to wade thru all the BS to find what we're looking for.

I agree.  Leave a place where Pel and the guys can be discussed without any mention of the other coach and his cronies.

hogcoots

Let MMQB stay a football forum and Jump Ball stay a basketball forum.  As of right now, there is no comparison between the two programs.  We currently have a leader, a winning attitude, and some hope for the future in one of the programs.  In the other, we don't.

arkiehog1

Everyone is making valid points. Why not let it as till we are rid of the DMW soap opera. Hopefully that is only a few weeks away then merge the 2 after we get a quality coach.......     :razorback:

Might as well move it back over here.  It looks like we're headed back to being a "thank God for basketball season" fan base, anyway.

To be fair, its been that way since the Sutton Era.   We're a basketball school with a football program.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. I voted yes til I read this and Sir-pigs-a-lot and have to agree with them.  With as many members as are here, wait an hour and a topic you'd like to see is on page 3 or 4, especially with as many people who feel they have to start a new topic instead of adding to one already there.

Put it where you want to but I'll find it wherever.  Just refreshing to see something you feel good about wearing hog uni.

If so, shouldn't you change the name to Monday Morning Point Guard

SwinerBock

I say keep them separate.  Once the Nutt saga / football season is over, list the Jump Ball forum first in the list of forums.

Corkscrew Johnson

NO WAY!!

MMQB has deteriorated into a Houston Nutt bashing forum.  No matter the validity or purpose of the post, every thread gets derailed into the same tired argument.  And if a good thread happens to appear, it quickly gets lost to the 2nd and 3rd pages by the anti-Nutt clatter.

Some of us have really enjoyed Jump Ball because its posters have made an effort to stay away from the HDN saga.  Anytime someone tries to bring it up, they get jumped on pretty quick.

LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!   Thanks!

Rockhawg

NO,

I'm with Boomis on this. It's not that difficult to find Jump Ball.

It's refreshing to not have to wade thru the Nutt BS.

I feel the same way as to the Baseball Forum.

I vote we change the name of MMQB to "Hawgball is back". Then we create a new forum in honor of the Dork. We'll call it the "Me and my Posse" forum. Maybe we can even open a new forum in honor of Diana. We'll call it Diana's "Woodshed" forum. It can be a place where people who are skilled in the art of woodworking can go and share their tricks in how to create that one of a kind 2x4. :)

I have to disagree with you Erie.  We've been more successful in basketball, but that doesn't make us a basketball school.

The people of Arkansas covet football success much more than basketball.  We are a football state.  Always have been, always will be.

Indiana is a basketball state with basketball schools.

If given the choice of only being able to have one team of excellence for all time, the vast majority of Razorback fans would choose football.

1.  We're a football state, that's irrefutable.
2.  We've always been a member of a football dominant conference.
3.  The vast majority of our resources are both generated by and spent on football.
4.  Our attendance percentages are better in football in general.
5.  The only time in our history basketball even began to rival football was the 90's when basketball was at the super elite level and football was at its lowest level since the mid 50's.
6.  In the past 10 years, when both programs have been at relatively equal levels of mediocrity, enthusiasm for football has far outstripped that for the basketball program.

You may say those are just more of the same "want to" scenarios, but what the fan base cares about the most is what really determines who and what you are.

If you haven't noticed, we've really not been a "basketball school" since '97.

its interesting that 113 people want to close it, but none of them have posted in this thread

I would pay more attention to the people who actually took the time to comment in the thread rather then the poll results.  The people with 1 or 2 posts who just decided to vote shouldnt count anyway

Dont close the basketball forum.  Its a safe haven from the Nutt stuff.   especially going to be needed this december why we may be waiting out to see if Nutt really is gone...   and if he is, the coaching search would throw basketball to a backburner, and it would be tough to find threads

If you haven't noticed, we've really not been a "basketball school" since '97.

1.  Not relevant; what we are outside of the university, or what we want the university to be does not matter.
2.  When someone says  'Arkansas' and 'SEC',  is the first rivalry they mention LSU or Kentucky?  It's Kentucky-- and basketball.
3.  That's true at virtually all D1A football programs;  Duke and UCONN are the only 2 programs where this isn't the case.
4.  Over the past 30 years?  That's a very bold assertion.
5.  During your 'period of mediocrity',   the basketball team was still selling out every game, until the past year or two.   They made 7 NCAA Tournament appearances during that 10 years--  a more exclusive company than appearing in 7 bowls by far.

What the fan base 'wants'  doesn't mean a thing.

What you do is who you are--   and Arkansas is a basketball school, for better or for worse.

I voted to leave things as they are.  Maybe after football season and after we're done talking about the new coach, it'd be time to merge, or at least consider it again--as the SEC season starts, possibly?

Please leave it the way it is.  It's kind of pre-mature to get rid of it before basketball season starts.  I for one like the separation between football and basketball, and visit each one daily for new information.

FranktheTankk

Don't close it. I don't want to have to wade through all the Fire Nutt threads to find the basketball threads. Maybe when Nutt is gone we should close the MMQB because there will clearly be no reason for anyone to post there anymore.

Buff

keep the Jump Ball forum separate from the MMQB forum.  but as soon as the LSU game is over, move Jump Ball to the top of the board list, and move MMQB just below it.

TRUHOG718

I always thought there should be a separate forum for basketball. Most of us that post in that forum have constructive things to say and the general tone of JB is 180 degrees different from MMQB. I for one hated having to go through 5 pages of Fire Nutt (which I cant wait to happen), Dale told Mitch, Frank is too old to work threads just to find one I wanted to read let alone post in. Not hating on MMQB, but why make us who have posted in Jump Ball all along (even when the forum couldnt pull 5 posts a day) suffer now that its basketball season and people who never thought to look at this the BBall forum are coming over and seeng how much more non-disfunctional and fun to read it is compared to MMQB.  Jump Ball is venue for those who love Razorback Basketball to come and get quality information and  constructive critisism of each others thoughts about the sport we love without having to have a bomb sniffing dog with us to find it.

I have seen the tone of Jump Ball change slightly over the last month due to those who are used to the tone and frequent non informative and IMO senseless rants that take place in MMQB. If thats what your used to dealing with you become contitioned to just type without having really anything informative to say. Kind of like when you spend all your life in Mexico you may move to America and still call soccer football. HSV please dont shut down my favorite forum.  TRUHOG
