Thomas (5-10, 185, 4.4) rushed for a whopping 374 yards on 37 carries and scored three touchdown to lead his visiting No. 2 Mustangs past No. 1 Smithson Valley in a Class 5A showdown before a estimated crowd of nearly 12,500.

That is the seventh-highest single-game rushing total in the history of the city of San Antonio and he was named the San Antonio Express News' Offensive Player of the Week.
