The Recruiting Guy

June 22, 2007, 03:26:03 pm Last Edit: June 22, 2007, 07:19:43 pm by Richard Davenport
Terrance Joyner is a 6'2 175 pound combo guard from Genesis One Academy, Mendenhall, Miss. Terrance is originally from Los Angeles Ca. I just got off the phone with Terrance and here's what he had to say.

TRG: Tell how was the visits?

Terrance: I love the atmosphere, the tradition is great. I love the coaching staff and the opportunity to go play as a freshman in the SEC and they have a chance to really win the next couple of years. I love John Pelphrey's style of play. I just love everything down there.I just fell in love with the place.

TRG: What other schools have you visited?

Terrance: I went to New Mexico's elite camp with Coach Steve Alford and Arkansas. Those were the only two schools I visited.

TRG: What were your other offers?

Terrance: Oregon St., Washington St., New Mexico. Those were the schools that offered but I had interest from LSU, Texas A&M, Fla. St., Tennessee, Missouri, USC was going to offer me but I didn't attend their elite camp so they didn't offer.

TRG: Who was the main recruiter for Arkansas?

Terrance: Coach Brown was the one and Tom Ostrom. I like Coach Brown he's a real cool coach and he likes my game and the way I play. They're all cool coaches and I look forward to playing there.

TRG: What did you and Coach Pelphrey talk about?

Terrance: Me and Coach Pelphrey had a good conversation and it was like a big decision for me. We both agreed that Arkansas was the place for me to play and it was the best situation for me out of all the colleges that were recruiting me and we were both excited.

TRG: Mike Miller is the sponsor of your AAU team. What did he have to say about Coach Pelphrey?

Terrance: He told me he was good guy. Coach Pelphrey recruited Mike Miller and he said it would be a good situation for me.

TRG: What were your stats from this past season?

Terrance: I had 15 points game and 6 assits.

TRG: What impressed you the most on your visit?

Terrance: I liked the tradition and how the fans are serious about Arkansas basketball and the tradition is great and I love the facilities. I just love the atmosphere there.

Terrance will be on Press Row Monday Morning at 8:06 to discuss him becoming a Razorb

+1 for the interview richard

I love to hear that richard. You are the reason I keep coming back to hogville even though MMQB is such garbage right now.

Thanks for the interveiw.  It sounds like Terrance might get some playing time as a freshman.

Good interview!  This is a great pick up and I am excited about the future.  Is there any word on whether we are still pursuing kemba walker out of New York?  He's another guard but we could use him in the new system.  Also he's Todd Day's cousin.

Walker committed to UConn this week.

Richard,

Do you have a "real" job????

I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't on the FBI's watch list for all the calls you make to these young people.   ;D ;D ;D

Be Good
The first thing I heard today was that he grew up on a pig farm. That's quite a start in my book. And my last memory was watching him hang 70 on Nebraska. Just those two facts are enough (for me to like him). Then, I hear that he's out of the Hayden Fry-Bill Snyder-Barry Alvarez coaching tree. Oh, that's enough for me to like a lot. Then, I hear he's got a 27-year-old wife. Okay, we can stop. I like him.

If Richard is as good at a real job as he is recruiting info he is already a millionaire and don't need to work. He makes Otis so meaningless. This was a great interview read thanks.
www.southernlandmanagement.com If I may be of any assistance.

It's great to hear a kid who's favorite part about Arkansas is the tradition.  I love the facilities too, but am glad to hear somebody who is excited about our tradition.
