Smith is especially excited about playing for Arkansas linebacker coach Reggie Herring.

"He's coached in the league, held records at Florida State and put a lot of guys into the NFL,'' he said. "If I make it that far, it would be great. If I don't, I'll have a lot of great job offers coming out of Arkansas.''

Smith said he plans to play as a freshman.

"I know I can compete at that level,'' he said. "I'm going up there to take somebody's job.''
