For Burgers, I like Scotty P's.  Big Burger/Big Fries, reasonable prices.

Don't eat anything on Harry Hines.
Actually one of the best places to have breakfast is the Mecca.  Great place...just don't pick up the girls wanting rides.

Just sayin'

Are you drunk?  Seriously?  Growing up in SE MO/NE ARK = that is real BBQ.  Sorry, but Sonny Bryan's is horrible.  Ruby's would be a better choice.

Is this a joke?  Texas BBQ is the best in the world.  The original Sonny Bryan's on Inwood is the best in Big D.  The chains all smoke their meat off site but the original has been using the same smoker for over 50 years and it is right there on the spot.

Everybody has their own taste in Barbeque.  I've learned not to insult another man's taste in barbeque.  I from Texas and like texas barbeque.  When i lived in Arkansas i tried every highly recommended barbeque place in Little Rock.  Never liked any of it.  But people there raved about it.  Just an individual taste and I think it has a ton to do with what you were raised on.

like the one poster said....BBQ in TX= brisket....which isn't really BBQ.

As Charlie Verges (sp?)said.....you can make a hot dog taste like BBQ if you put enough sauce on it.

How in the world is brisket not BBQ??!?  Brisket is what BBQ is all about.  You take a cheap, crappy, tough hunk of meat and make it delicious by cooking it low and slow until it's so tender and juicy it falls apart.  The brisket itself has no flavor but a good rub, nice smoke ring, and the right sauce makes it perfect.

NOTHING is more BBQ than brisket.

Javier's?

Sounds familiar, where is it?  The name rings a bell but I honestly can't remember it.  Means i didn't like it.

I remember Whole Hog, Sims, Corky's, some little place in bryant, Big Joe's, another little wooden shack place in Conway.  After my first year there of trying places I gave up.

Oh yeah and a place on Markham in LR near the Kitchen and Bath concept store.

The only barbecue i really liked was Pulled Pork at Whole Hog.  Didn't care for any of their sauces.

Texas BBQ is excellent.  Unfortunately none of the best places in Texas are anywhere near Dallas.  You really need to go to Austin or some small town for the best BBQ.  If your heart is set on it though, the best in DFW is North Main BBQ in Euless.  It's only open on the weekends, it's all you can eat, it's BYOB, it's run by a group of crazy, drunk guys who travel all around the country winning competitions.

http://www.northmainbbq.com/

$10 bucks gets you all the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey, chicken, etc. you can eat.  Come hungry.

Right on there.  I remember having Texas BBQ for the first time thinking this is not how BBQ sause is supposed to taste.  But I've learned to like it for what it is.  It's about what your used to.  Wholehog is still my fav although when in Texas you've got to eat Texas BBQ.

The Blue Goose..

http://bluegoosecantina.com/

I love Blue Goose.  If you want Mexican, I'd go with:

Uncle Julio's
Papasito's
Blue Goose

Someone recommended Bone Daddy's earlier and don't discount their food just because they have CRAZY hot girls serving it.  Their chicken fried steak is one of the best in the area.  Their grilled wings are amazing.  The BBQ is good.  I'd also recommend, in honor of the Hog offense, the Flying Pig which is a giant bun loaded with pulled pork, sliced smoked ham, sliced smoked sausage, and crisp bacon...smothered in BBQ sauce.  Wow is that a good sandwich.

Arby's is barbecue for yankees and californians.  I won't step foot in an Arby's, except to stock on the 5 for 5 deal when i'm going fishing or huntin.

For Texas BBQ I have Eaten Cousins Spring Creek and most of the chains in the Metroplex I have not gotten a bad Chopped sandwich yet.  Different taste in sauses and in the wood used but the Meat is about the same.

Now on Pork go to the Delta and hit Craigs in Devalls Bluff or Shaddons Grocery on HWY 49 just outside Marvell heading toward Helena.

Road trip tips from your friend, Rebel Chuck
« Reply #3019 on: October 19, 2009, 10:02:23 am »

Good mornin' hogs
Since I lived in Little Rock until I was 4, I feel obligated to help you out this weekend. Here are some tips for those of you coming to Oxford.

1. Dress nice. Try to find a shirt with a collar on it. This shirt needs to have some kind of logo on the left chest. You can have the traditional horse there or others. I've seen alot of new ones lately. Almost all are expensive enough to be considered acceptable. If your polo shirt does not have a logo, then please cover it with a jacket. While we're on jackets...

2. Bring a nice jacket with you. This should be at least over $80. If you are having trouble with the brand, stick with North Face, Columbia, or Patagonia. All of these would be acceptable. If you bring a generic jacket, please don't let it touch mine. My expensive jacket has never had poor jacket coodies on it and I'm not about to start now.

3. Bring money. Don't bring a wad of cash. That means you're just fake rich. Bring your portfolio. Bank statements, stock holdings, or whatever else your millions are tied into. We like to compare these with each other when we are not talking about football. If your statement has anything less than 1 million in it please try to alter it somehow. I don't condone lying, but I also want you to have a good time. If you do have to alter your bank statement, wait until everyone is drunk to pull it out. Hopefully no one will notice the forgery.

4. It is very important what type of vehicle you bring. If you already have the latest Tahoe / Suburban, then welcome to campus! If you do not, do not worry. Any other type of vehicle over $50,000 is not frowned upon. If you drive something that does not meet this criteria, then please do not park on campus. We work very hard to keep our campus rich looking and your '83 F-150 is not helping. Just park in the woods and I'll come pick you up. Tell everyone that you drive the newest Tahoe / Suburban; you just didn't bring it because you had to drive through Memphis to get here.

5. Sunglasses. Ray-Bans period. This is not debatable. If you do not have Ray - Bans, just do without sunglasses for the day. If you absolutely have to have sunglasses, then please stop by my tent. I only wear Ray-Bans a max of two times and then buy a new pair. I will have used pairs available to you. Remember to tell someone they are new if your are asked.

6. Any type of Italian leather loafers will be just fine. I sometimes wear boots and that is acceptable if they are made from some type of exotic animal. I'm not talking about cows, the hide should be from some type of endangered species.

7. Wear slacks or khakis. It doesn't matter which one as long as they are expensive. If you do not have any expensive pants, then please take the label of of your best pair of slacks. Alot of our pants are so expensive that they do not have labels. This is because the designer's pants are so high end that they shouldn't need a label. You might be able to pass of your pants as something of that variety. Maybe. Just try to keep attention away from your pants.

Enjoy your time in Oxford and I hope this helps. I will try to answer any other questions as they come up. This is a busy month for alot of Rebels. One of the smaller countries governments is about to fold and we were financially backing the wrong side of the revolution. It's no big deal, that's the fun of investing right? Sometimes you lose millions, sometimes you gain them.

Can't say I blame you for posting this.  If I lived in Oxford, I'd want everyone else that comes in to look decent too.  Gotta find some way to sharpen up the image.  God knows it's not going to happen on it's own.

I'll be there bright and early Saturday morning after a night in Memphis.  Any ideas where I can land my heli?

I'll be there in my dirty 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with Hog magnets all over it. Wearing my least worn pair of blue jeans, my Harley boots, my lucky Razorback hat (that is dirty as all get out), about $150.00 in cash, a bottle of Sailor Jerry's, oh and I will have a polo shirt on ... but its logo is a Hog!

I can do all this and still be proud because we are the MFR and we care about football, not who has the newest [CENSORED] compensation ... oops I mean Suburban or Tahoe.

BTW your sarcasm wasn't lost on me, so don't overlook mine! ;)

There should be plenty of tickets around. They will be available for around $70. Just look under the seats of your suburban. There are usually some $100 dollar bills laying around if your like me. My kid loves to play with those things in the back seat and some always slip through the cracks.

Unlike most of you rednecks I would like to fit in. Is there a place where I can purchase these items after I win a ton at Tunica friday?
