I live in Fort Worth but this will also be my first. I have a couple of TCU groups I'm going to hang out with. Where do you plan on setting up? #WPS

I'll be in lot 4 with a group of my college buddies (will have TCU fans there as well). From what I hear, Lot 4 is the party lot. Should be interesting! Go Hogs!

Some recommendations from a friend who lives in Ft Worth:

Fred's off Bluebonnet Circle
Woodshed
Dutch's (close to the university)

Hope this helps, and hope to see some of y'all on Saturday

The GameDay experience just walking around the stadium is pretty good. I've been to a couple of games (daughter went there) and there is plenty to do and see. Food and drink (beer!) is available to purchase.

Freds off bluebonnet is good place and kid friendly. Non-smoking great food and plenty of televisions.  I go.there frequently. Know the manager well.  Will actually be a Steeler watch party location this year as well.

If you want a great mexican meal without the glamor, try El Asedero, 1535 n. Main. St.  It is between Stockyards and downtown.  You won't be disappointed.  I could drink their salsa.

If you can get to the stockyards, get you a burger from "The Love Shack." It's Time Love's little burger bar that is 50/50 filet and brisket. Get you a love burger with a quail egg, bacon, cheese, and "love sauce."  Fine dining is around the corner at Lonesome Dove, really good food. A lot of people love Joe T Garcias for tex-mex. The limited menu is just average, but the setting (patio) is pretty darn cool. I've also heard really good things about "Woodshed" for bbq, but havent been there.

Was at the new JJs on Dickson last weekend a couple times and during the game, If the weather is nice, that's hard to beat. Big open patio and cool indoor seating also.

Yeah.  I would go with Grubs.  It's a good atmosphere, and they have good food as well.  I would suggest the avocado burger.  But, I would go to the one on Shiloh Dr,  instead of Dickson.  I personally like that one better, and it isn't so much of a headache to park at.

The stockyards are more or less a cowboy/western theme park without the rides.  It is very gimmicky with average places to eat.

Near Southside/Magnolia has some really cool places to hang out and eat.  Casual places as well as some more upscale places.  Bearded lady is a pretty good spot.  Rahr brewery is in this area of town and has beer tours on Saturday.  During the football season they generally have football games on tv and have food trucks come to the brewery.  $10 for 3 pints of beer.

Dutch's Burgers and Buffalo Bros (wings/pizza) are right by campus.  Buffalo Bros has an amazing tv set up for watching games and great wings.  Fuzzy's has gone full on chain mode, but the original one is the one on berry street by TCU.  Fred's burgers on Bluebonnet circle has good food and pretty good tv set up as well.  These areas you will definitely get more of the "gameday" atmosphere as opposed to near southside/magnolia.

Railhead BBQ on Montgomery is a mile or two from campus and is probably my favorite quick bbq place in the area.  Usually full of people getting ready to go to the game.  Has great food and cold beer. This is where Gary Patterson does his weekly radio show on Thursdays.

Maybe it's just a preference but I prefer Foghorns off College on Green Acres Rd. Since the Hogs play at 6 if you get there around 4ish you should be able to find a number of great views to watch the game.

I could be over estimating walk times a bit. Paschall to the stadium is probably right about a mile.

I agree with you that our campus is very small, and if you can get a spot close to campus on the east side of university you should be fine.  Most of these streets fill up very early, and many of them have started restricting parking on gamedays with temporary no park signs.  It is definitely not as easy as it used to be to find free super convenient parking.

To your point, if people are looking for free parking, they can probably drive around campus for about 15 minutes to find a parking space with a reasonable walk.

Thanks MAcFroggy!

No...that's a chain...there are much better alternatives

Heaven forbid a chain restaurant be a reputable business or have good food/service!!!

Disclaimer:  I have no affiliation with said taco chain I just find it hilarious these days that all my friends are so adamant about "eating local" out of town.

Went to Austin a few months ago and that was the most repeated phrase, anywhere we went, "is it local"?  Look man I don't care it smells good and it all makes a turd!

I perceive its merely a bit of "snobbery" from supposed extreme diners...     What they don't know is that many of the "local" joints get a pass from public health departments (since there are too many of them in a big metro area like Dallas) from formal inspections and reviews, whereas the health departments beat the chains to death with inspections and visits because I believe they think that if they inspect 1, they have served notice to 100's in the chain. (I'm not saying that chain restaurants are all pristine because like the locals, they simply aren't).    I've worked in real estate for over two decades in the restaurant business nationwide and know this as a fact.

Channel 8 did an expose many years ago here in Dallas on Chinese restaurants (the majority were "local", and it was unbelievable what little sanitation and health procedures they followed, if any at all).   Some of the restaurants even had their open bean and other vegetable storage bins located right next to the employee toilet, weren't washing their hands, or taking other safety precautions, etc....  blechhhhh.......

Head south about 10 miles to Belt Line in Addison, and join the official DFW Razorback Club at Buffalo Wild Wings . . . just west of the tollway, on the south side of Belt Line.

I live in Frisco and BWW is the closest official Hog watching spot. Might be tough to be find it with sound anywhere else.

Dodies Live is cool little dive bar with average Cajun food off the Tollway/Main by the stadium in Frisco and they have several TV's and good drink prices.

Henrys Tavern in Shops of Legacy (5 min drive down the Tollway) is a pretty cool/large sized sports bar and there are plenty of other good spots to eat around there.

Tight Ends Sports Bar is close to 121/Tollway and is like Twin Peaks + Hooters + bikini steroids.

The west side of Frisco off 423/Lebanon has a cool small little bar called Tailgaters. Decent bar food and I've watched a few Hog games there with buddies.

My recommendation is Tightends or Wild Pitch.  Not sure about other hog fans, but you'll enjoy the "scenary."  Just don't take your wife/girlfriend...

Scruffy Duffy's in The Shoppes of Legacy is a good spot to watch a game also.

Best Route to Lot 74A Coming from Springdale
« Reply #16799 on: September 16, 2016, 03:49:48 pm »

The foundation website recommends MLK exit from I49, then left on Eastern Ave. The lot is west of  Razorback Rd. across from the track.

If I exit I49 onto Wedington Rd., and go right on Sang Ave., does Sang go thru to the lot? A map indicates it does not go thru and it looks like pre-game traffic on Razorback Rd. is one way north so I would not be able to go south to the lot.

For post-game, it looks like I could take Nettleship to Stone St., then Futral and get on I49 at Wedington?
