Ironic you mention not wanting farm raised fish or seafood YET you mention BEEF and several places where that is the main thing on the menu!

You need an education if you don't know the difference.  I'll gladly eat American feed lot beef over Indonesian pen raised fish.

I'm really not trying to derail or change the topic, but good food starts with good ingredients.  Otherwise we'd all ask for directions to McDonalds.  I rarely eat out, but when I do I want good food.  I eat seafood at home 2 or 3 meals a week, but only eat out seafood monthly.  I eat almost no beef at home, and go out for a good steak every 3 or 4 months.  If people were able to see where a lot of their food came from, they'd never eat it.  Seeing some of our food supply in foreign countries really opens your eyes to what you are eating.

OK. We ate at Farmers Table again for lunch yesterday. We were very disappointed. ALL our cooked food was cold and not as fresh as it should have been. Service was inattentive. We have come to the conclusion it is good there for breakfast only. Won't be back for lunch.

Sure I know the difference. You aren't the only one that has eaten all over the world. But that's not what matters. I'll certainly agree with your last two sentences.

ricer, you're saying "under $200" is a good thing. I get that. I've already pegged you as a rich guy in another thread anyway. I think it was one of my polls.

Nah, just is at Doe's. I'm just a regular guy like everyone else, I eat $1 sausage biscuits at Mikey D's every morning for breakfast. I don't mind spending money for something good, we all make our choices.

Houston Nutt used to swear by the room service breakfast at the Springdale Holiday Inn.
That was when Nutt got his extension (to his contract) and was feeling flush.
Usually he was feeding quarters into the Magic Fingers vibrating beds at the Chief Motel so fast it messed him up.

Foghorns is great with 3 locations and a 4th coming in Benton County.  A local guy serving great food to local people.  All the money stays in Arkansas.
Where in Benton County? I love Foghorns but I usually only go when I'm in Fayetteville for a game or something. I-49 construction is a nightmare.

Even though there are several locations around the state, I cant believe nobody has mentioned Gusanos Pizza on Weddington. We go there religiously on game day. Order one of the chicago style pizzas. We always get the 12" Grubs Choice.

Ricks Bakery for dessert!!

Spot on for Ricks.

I've actually been to Chicago several times.  That's why I didn't mention Gusanos.  They are acceptable, but not worth a mention in this thread.  Tims and Zs do a great pie in the local tradition.  Gusanos does a halfway decent Chicago style pie.  I do go there because they do have the best Chicago style in the area, but it is not great.  It seems like they are missing at least one layer every time I go.  I have never seen the topping to the top of the crust like you ALWAYS get at any decent pizza joint in the City.

Dickson/off Dickson:
Rolandos $$
Theos $$$
Hugos $
Bordinos $$$

Pesto Cafe on College
Mermaids on College
Sassy and Penquin Eds for barbq

There are some more places around the square.

Haven't tried it but I've heard Farmers Table is good.

Back in 1969, when we lived in Fayetteville, we went to Penguin Ed's.  Really liked it.  Went to Homecoming this year and was happy to find that Penguin Ed's hasn't changed.  Gotten a little bigger but same great BBQ.

Nope, you're correct, Penguin Ed's is horrible. I've tried two different locations and I won't be back. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, I tried the BBQ.

Hugo's is outstanding for burgers, sandwiches and soup.  It is a very unique setting, in the basement of a building.  Not accessible to people in wheelchairs, unfortunately.

Crabby's in Rogers is one of my favorites in NW Arkansas.  Mostly seafood but some chicken and I believe some beef dishes.

Mermaids is excellent, but expect to pay through the nose.  Unlike some other posters, I like Powerhouse.

I like Marketplace Grill in Springdale.  It has higher end food but no alcohol.  There's was a big wait on War Eagle weekend.  The Marketplace Grill in Springdale is better than the ones in Conway and Little Rock, IMHO.  However, the Little Rock location has a bar.

Sassy's has good barbeque and burgers.

Max's in the South Main district (GE Patterson).  Near the train station, Arcade, etc.
Max is an Arkansas graduate.
Less than a mile to the FedEx Forum.
(Double J across the street has a shuttle if you go there, too).
Max's is the place to go for you.
Lot's of other bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.
Actually an easy walk to the Forum if you're inclined.
AND....it's VERY safe. You're not going to get shot!

I just called Max.
Will let you know.
Try Double J for now.
Local on the Main St mall is an option.
Blind Bear., too.
I guess the holiday hours different for all of them.
I'll keep checking for you.
Heck, the Blue Monkey just up the street on Front St will have.
The owner there is an Arkansas graduate as well.
Big fan. You'll have to talk the manager on duty into putting the sound on the game, though.

Hopefully this time I will not be seated in front of the three college kids that snuck those beers into the game and shook them up and sprayed them all over me and my two young sons. It was fun for 3 5/8ths quarters wearing a beer slushy all over us

I'm still warming up from that game.  Eddie Money was combining songs together so he could finish quicker and get to some place heated.

If we do end up with the Liberty Bowl this year I hope global warming hits hard that night.
