Extremely long concession lines, hot water on a hot day, no vendors walking in the seating areas, bad football being played on the field.

Not a great Saturday...I thought we 'upgraded' concessions w a new vendor? Levi not cutting it!!

Season ticket holder for 10 years - worst game environment I can remember. Crowd wasn't into it and I understand - there wasn't much to be pumped about

The concessions and lines were horrible, no excuse for that. I knew there would be problems when I kept seeing tweets wanting non-profit groups to man them. Now, they always have in the past, but pleading for help a week out made me believe they would be ill prepared.

Been going to games since 92. Atmosphere used to be Amazing on Gameday. It's been getting very blah each year during the last 5 years.   Even some of the fans don't want you to cheer too loud.

I kept standing up thinking others behind and around me would stand, too.  Everyone just sat and looked at me like I was blocking their view, so I sat down. Once was when we were on the goal line at the end of third quarter. I kept standing anyway.

And I did feel a little self conscious for yelling so loud. I felt like I was getting the same look the nuns used to give me when I whispered in church.

Seriously, you need a better section to sit in. People stood up in the wine and cheese club all the time. Now, not much when we are on offense, but every big third down it was stand-up and yell. After the PI call, the air was let out and people started "happy trailing" it.

Saturday was first time at a Hog game since the Auburn game two years ago. As someone who lives in the Columbia, MO area, I always tell Tiger fans how bad their game day experience is, but I don't know that I have room to speak.

I find it irritating that the game has started and there are still lots of empty seats as people haven't made it from the tailgate to the game. Are you there to tailgate or watch football? I went to watch Arkansas State at Nebraska last week and I can assure you the stadium was pretty well full for well before the game started. They do a tribute to Frank Broyles before the game and a hog call, but the stands are still half empty.

The overall atmosphere seemed apathetic. The crowd was dead during the game and it looked like a lot of people didn't even bother returning for the second half.

It took much longer to get through the gates than normal. I think that was part of the reason so many empty seats at start. I know I will get down to the stadium earlier the next game. Hopefully they will get the bottlenecks fixed, but I doubt it.

Yeah, they showed the crowd's faces quite a bit on TV.  Especially in the second half.  Lots of people with hands over their mouths.  The expressions I saw were either open anger and frustration or what I imagine what someone's face would look like while watching a train wreck occur in real-time.

Works for me, it was beyond embarrassing. I had no problem as I did my run way before the start of the game, but I thought some in my section had given up at halftime, only to show back up at the start of the 4th.

None of the large contract catering operators are very good. Sodexo, Levi.............it doesn't matter. At least Sodexo never ran out of "receipt" paper for register. Happened one customer win front of us. The supervisor was so slow getting it by the time he came back I had switched lines farther back and STILL got my food faster than the lady that had been waiting in the original line.

Saturday parking at Baum??
« Reply #18167 on: October 01, 2017, 01:48:27 pm »

Anybody know why large sections of the parking lot at Baum Stadium were blocked off and unavailable for parking last Saturday?  Is this something that is going to be the new normal or was it a one time occurrence?  I'll hang up and listen.

It's been that way for all home games. I'm going to assume the UA has started filling those blocked areas with folks that have paid the ridiculous $750 for a parking pass. Eventually the entire lot will probably be pay only.

I've just started paying $5 and parking across from the track center. Easy walk to the shuttle. It's an even easier exit afterward.

I believe that is at the Agri Park Cross Country Course. That is a long way away from Baum. That being said since fans were leaving the game early I though when we stayed till the end the traffic would be fine. I was wrong. When we got to Gregg street it was stop and go. We weren't sure why but later saw a whole lot of school busses and teams with running clothes on. We realized there was something going on. The Chili Pepper run is a big event and would cause some traffic issues by itself much less with a football game the same day. It's a great event to have in Fayetteville but I don't understand why it would be scheduled the same day as a football game creating even more than normal game day traffic.

I have parked at Baum for years and about 2-3 years ago there were several more parking spaces that started being blocked off for the disabled.

After the game, I went to my daughter's sorority house for about 45 minutes and then headed to my hotel in Bentonville from my parking spot near Wilson Park. I used College(71B) to go north. After turning on College, it was bumper to bumper at 5 mph all the way to 49. It took an hour and a half to get from the Pi Phi house to exit 85, I've never seen the traffic this bad for a game with 30,000, lol......

Yeah for the TCU game we had planned to park there, but it was full by noon or so, I thought it was due in part to  tailgaters displaced from the construction.

Crazy bad traffic. Especially when a huge majority of fans left the game real early. WHY they would schedule two sporting events that will cause traffic the same day is baffling. I know the Chili Pepper is also a big event but football still pays the bills. It's like the Bikes Blues and BBQ. It's a great thing to have and draws huge numbers to the area but it's always during an away game.

That is in no way appetizing to me. Like at all.

Much worse than Taco Rice that we had in Okinawa.

My best friend and I are heading down to Tuscaloosa to tailgate and support the Hogs. We may get beat but I'm still looking forward to having a good time down there and checking out the atmosphere. Is there anyone on here making the trip as well and would like to do some tailgating?  Anyone have any suggestions on where to go for drinks or meals?

Rama Jama's for a burger at the sw corner of the stadium. Right next to the door, They have a framed newspaper article of bama welcoming us to the sec. Dudley wrote it.  Dreamland BBQ.  University blvd. is next to the stadium so you can walk to it before and after the game to hit some bars.

For the life of me I can't imagine going in there to watch a team of our ineptitude try and battle it out.

Good luck.

I was there in 07 and 11 and it's an awesome place to watch a game, but I feel for the Hog fans that have tickets and are going to this one.

I don't feel for any Hog fans that get the pleasure to watch a SEC Saturday night game, against a top opponent, in a game they should have no expectations.

Being on the road at A&M and South Carolina losing would be a tough pill to swallow because we thought we could win.  I went to A&M game and still had a blast after the frustrating ending.

That said, with no expectations, go expecting to watch us get killed and enjoy the Tuscaloosa nightlife.  Anything on top of that is gravy.  Bama fans shouldn't rib too much, because we're a nobody and not on their radar. Plus in general they are a pretty nice bunch.
