Graduated in '84, and lived off of Casa Taco and King Pizza while there.  That food would probably kill me now.

Oh Casa Taco!!!  Was in school in late 90's-early 00's.  Only place I know where multiple friends got DWI's passing out in the drive-through and would let you stand on tables tops like it was no big deal.  Plus, it would take so long to get delivery it wasn't uncommon to pass out waiting.  Sometimes paying and all your buddies eating the food.  Ah, the memories.

We used to go out to the bar and come home and order Casa Taco delivery.  By the time they got there, usually an hour and a half later, we would all be passed out.  Good times!

Taco Shack has Casa Taco beat by a long shot.   In high school, I could run down there and grab a $2 meat-and-cheese nachos.

I'm plying my Keystone Ice drunk brain from about 1992 but I seem to recall walking down from Hotz Hall for all-you-can-eat something or other at Casa Taco (renamed Taco Casito for a bit?) with some regularity.

Fuzzy's is gone?

Casa Taco had the best hot sauce ever. I grew up in Fayetteville and know 100% what you mean.
Also King Pizza was some real good cheap pizza. Grew up on that stuff too.

Both of these responsible for the "freshman 20" pounds I put on in college back in early eighties. Late night munchies. King Pizza on Leverett had the first real video arcade I can remember too. Tron and space invaders. Those were the days...

That whole Mt. Comfort Rd. plaza needs to be redone.

I'm not a commercial property genius but it seems like that would be a prime place for restaurants.

Plenty of parking, along the path of game-day traffic, and easy access for students.

ADD: Mojo's and Lucky Luke's are fine dining establishments but they could redo the old buildings in bring in some new blood.

4 Corners Kitchen down there isn't bad either but it's run like the people don't really have any idea as to what they are doing.

I often do but spend most of my time on the South side of the stadium.  I never thought to query re Hugo's or Fuzzy's.  I just presumed they'd always be there...

Someone mentioned La Huerta?  Ah, yes, "Especial La Huerta."

There was one slim hipped waiter with Billy Ray Cyrus hair that was always trying to get with the co-eds...  It was hilarious to see, I just don't recall the name...

Casa Taco was never really great Mexican food. It was just an institution that was understood.

There really isn't a good Mexican restaurant in Fayetteville.

La Huerta though is absolute dog food.

Uplift Education, based in Dallas, is an organization of college-prep charter schools. Most campuses, not all, are inner-city or in low-income areas. And they are amazing in their results getting kids to college. And staying in college. They're a client of mine, which is why I know about them. This was in today's news—

And referred to the restaurant as La Hurtcha

Also remember Fuzzy's real well. Was great friends with one of the cooks there named Sam. Cool dude.

Casa Taco and Taco Casita were both great places for drunken food binges back in the day

The Tennessean ‏@Tennessean 25m25 minutes ago

#NashvilleGulch, Mt. Juliet getting upscale extended stay hotels http://tnne.ws/24374Na  via @getahn

Quote
The 120-room Staybridge Suites on the drawing board for land behind Adele's restaurant in the Gulch is one of two Nashville area hotels planned under the local debut of that upscale extended stay brand.

Construction is expected to start in spring 2017 on Staybridge Suites Nashville at 1212 McGavock St. with opening targeted for a year later. That property is owned by Rajesh Aggarwal, whose local holdings has included a pair of downtown area hotels and the inner core of Global Mall at the Crossings in Antioch.

Mt. Juliet's planning commission in December approved site plans for a Staybridge Suites off Belinda Parkway under that InterContinental Hotel Group brand. Construction should start this spring on that four-story, 100-room hotel, which will be owned by the family of Clarksville hotelier Kunal Shah.

"The city is very much growing well, so we want to cater to that," said Shah, adding that his hotel will be the first upscale extended stay hotel in Mt. Juliet.

The pair of planned Staybridge Suites openings reflect strong performance of the Nashville area's lodging market.

"Over the last three years, Nashville's RevPAR growth has outperformed the nation, which has put the city squarely in the crosshair of most developers in the U.S.," said Jan D. Freitag, senior vice president for lodging insights with Hendersonville-based industry tracker STR. "As occupancy and room rates continue to increase, I would expect continued active development for this city to continue."

By RevPAR, Freitag was referring to revenue per available room, which is a key measure of hotel performance.

Among the 25 largest U.S. lodging markets, Nashville last year finished behind only Phoenix and Tampa in growth in revenue per available room. STR's tracking shows an 11 percent RevPAR growth here to $93.11 versus a just over 6 percent average growth nationwide.

Meanwhile, Nashville's average daily room rate increased 8.7 percent to $126.67 at year's end. That was below the $147.30 average at year's end for the nation's 25 largest lodging markets and just above the $120 overall U.S. average.

Staybridge is a nice brand but I don't consider it upscale. But they have to categorize them somewhere in the mix. Nashville and central Tennessee is a hot market right now though. Memphis is also seeing an uptick in  development of lodging in west Tennessee.

Had dinner with him last night.  Meliton can run his ass and yours off the table, btw.

I lived across the street from Fuzzy's back in the day.  Man, the paradise that a Beefeater, Casa Taco and a liquor store were all within stumbling distance was awesome.

I was at the game Saturday. The Pavilion is nice but it isn't nicer than BWA, Thompson/Bowling, Mizzou Arena, Colonial Life Arena or Rupp. It is much smaller than all those. I haven't seen old barns new one yet. We sat in the upper level "mezzanine" (the ones in front of the glass windows you see on TV behind one of the baselines). Those seats were very steep and there was NO leg room. If someone got up to go somewhere then others had to help them to make sure they didn't fall down over the seats in front of them. The actual seat is fine except the cup holders right on the front of the armrest is an annoyance due to it being fairly short. I sat my drink on the floor between my legs just so I could put my arm on the armrest comfortably. Internet access was very good. The scoreboard is nice but it was hard to read the stats from where we were sitting on the ends of the ribbon boards that showed more detail that the one on the bottom of the main scroreboard. I walked around as much as was allowed. The concourse was very nice where the concession stands were behind the baselines. There were tables and chairs to sit at. We paid $9 for a bottled water and one large soft drink. The restroom line was WAY to long at halftime. I thought maybe there wasn't enough restrooms. It was also small and crowded. The lower level sidelines are pretty much all high priced club, loge or suite seating and no access on one whole side and most of the other. The students get decent seats and also get in FREE by showing their ID's. The pep band was terrible. That's a shame since they have a decent band overall. A LOT of "pro" type stuff during timeouts. The most interesting part since overall it's a nice clean new place, is it only seats a little over 9,000 and it wasn't close to full, yet the person we went with said it was sold out. There were a lot of Hog fans there. Obviously I was not allowed in the admin and locker room areas. I suspect opposing coaches saying it is a nice arena are basing that on those areas the public doesn't see. Overall a nice small but not great arena but it was desperately needed. We had a faculty parking permit since we went with my wife's niece that's a professor there and due to traffic close to the arena we had to park farther away than I thought we would. No biggie though. It is very strange they built it so close to the main side of VHS. I almost forgot one of their fans sitting immediately behind us was constantly complaining about the refs calls. It was also not as loud as I thought it would be being so small but it did get loud a couple of times. I guess the fact it wasn't a great game overall by either team was a factor in that.
P.S. Ajax Diner was a really good place to eat afterwards. How one of old misses players, Perez, got there before we did though I don't know. But trying to be a good Hog representative I did congratulate him on their victory and he was cordial to us and all the old miss fans wanting his autograph and picture.

I got hooked on Casa Taco at the Hwy71 location across from Ozark Lanes. Man, the beef nachos and cheese dip were addictive for a young, growing boy. I hated when that location closed and I had to go across town to the one by Mr. Burger. But, it never did deter me. Shame that it closed.
