I don't think anyone was saying anything about him being here.  He's a coach who grew up in Arkansas and coached some very good hs teams in Arkansas.  Why can't we talk about him on here?

Yeah, who needs the OC of the year anyway? Houston has proved he can call the plays and get us close to a championship by just running the ball. We don't need no stupid passes to receivers and such. Why would we want to improve? We're only 8th or 9th in potential anyway?

Come on...

The proof is in the pudding.    Why are they not moving on up?  There is not a better coach that is as good a person as Gus is .  I have known him for some time and he has intergity that you just do not see from many nowadays.  Proof of that is that Gus would never make such a statement about anyone as you have just made.

Give Gus time I am sure he will be a great coach, but Ark is not the place for him and his game plane. To close to home.  However, I do beleive that the fans and the media pumped him and Mitch and Damian up too much and have caused most of this problem. And caused MM and DW to get a big head, I do not blame them I would too. I think that may also be why we lost Lee, he is the hometown boy and everyone wants him to be the top dog. It better for him to go somewhere where they don't know him as well. Maybe that what MM and DW wanted in the 1st place during their recuritment but Gus convenced them to come to ARK. I wish them the best. And will know support David Lee and the rest of the players.

We only want coaches at Arkansas who want to be Razorbacks . . . :-\.

For you Nutthuggers that translates to: We only want coaches here who will toe the company line and run Frank's offense while keeping their mouths shut.

No sentence structure. No tact. No professionalism. Poor spelling.  You want us all to believe you are or were a Highschool Coach?  Come on man. You act like nobody has been around football but you. Enjoy your opinion. This is mine.

I was going to make fun of your grammar and spelling, but I won't.

I was going to make fun of your lack of ability to debate, but I won't.

I will just say that if you coached for 30 years, surely you understand that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.  If there are "alot better" coaches, then it shouldn't be hard to name one or two.  That's all.

Funny, I didn't notice GM's offence in any of those games except one when it was too late.  Yep, all GM's fault. Should have seen that one coming.

On the subject of the orginial thread. Gus was at a resturant in Springdale at noon today with Kevin Johnson. He was very happy, was the Gus of old. He didn't comment or say anything negative about Arkansas while he was there. He was more excited about playing golf tomorrow than anything.

My uncle had a nice conversation with Gus a week ago, maybe two weeks ago.  They were both in the Tulsa airport and chatted for a while.  My uncle said that Gus is just a very nice guy, he's very down to Earth, and while they talked about football in Arkansas and Tulsa, Gus never said anything bad about the Razorbacks or the administration.  He just said "Well, I got a new job," and then proceeded to talk about how excited he was about Tulsa's schedule this year.

Ha ha ha ha. One of these old coots who thinks Gus is making football "soft" with his Spread mentality. I am sure you are a fan of the Diamond T, Wing T, or the Double Slot. Crawl back in the cave you were born in. Gus Malzahn led his teams to 7 State Title games in 14 years as a Head Coach. Go ahead and start that list now.

Coach56:

There is no doubt that Arkansas has produced some quality high school coaches over the years. I am unsure whether you are asserting that there are several coaches better than GM or that there are high school coaches that are "a lot" better than Gus Malzahn. Either way, I disagree.

In 14 years as a head coach his teams appeared in at least 7 state championship games and his teams won 3 state titles (2 at Shiloh Christian, one at Springdale). If memory serves, Shiloh Christian was ranked as high as No. 11 nationally by ESPN one year and in 2005 Springdale was ranked No. 2 nationally. He has been acknowledged as an expert at his preferred offensive philosophy. He has written a book on the HUNH offense, produced an instructional video on the same, and has been a speaker at numerous coaching clinics around the country. He was named OC of the year by Rivals in 2006, his first year as a college coach...

Yeah, I have no doubt that there are some quality High School coaches in the state of Arkansas. I even know a few. Some no doubt could be successful at the college level. But if you believe that there are several who are better than Malzahn, or any who are "a lot better" than Malzahn, then I believe you are mistaken.

I wanna get my opinion in here:

Since "the coach" of 30 years seems to not respond as far as people "better" than Gus, lets just throw some out there to get started.  I don't think any of these guys, although all of them I think are good coaches, are as innovative and forward thinking as Gus is.  I, like the rest of us, understand that Gus represented THE hope for our program.

Barry Lunny
Tommy Tice
Bernie Cox
The guy down in Warren
Nashville's Coach (Chris Peterson I think is his name)(He also replaced Gus as Shiloh)
McClelland (sp?)
Vines
Josh Floyd (Friend of mine; protege of Gus)

If we keep adding to the list, maybe the coach can pick and choose who is better than Gus, instead of making him think about it.

Gus is now mad at how things are being portrayed by Nutt.
Angry enough to get his own side of things out there in an unambiguous manner?

he's a bitter old coach who probably got shredded by Gus. He is jealous because h eruns the ball 90% of the time..He got fired because the fans wanted him to pass the ball...He told them you know 3 things can happen when you pass and 2 of them are bad..ROTFLMAO...

Shut up coach...
