Hugh Freeze's phone calls to escort service coincide with recruiting trips on Ole Miss plane

QuoteA report - which cross-referenced flight records and phone logs - shows that former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze made more than one call to an escort service in Tampa, Fla., during recruiting trips.

The Wall Street Journal report found that Freeze called a number linked to a female escort service just hours after landing - by university plane - in Tampa for a recruiting trip.

Last month, Freeze resigned after it was found he made a phone call to a number associated with an escort service using a university phone.

It was a detail raised as a potential issue in a discussion between the university's legal counsel and the attorney for former Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt, who is suing the school...

Calls from Hugh Freeze's phone that raised red flags happened over several years on trips using the school plane:

QuoteAlthough school officials had previously declined to characterize the alleged misconduct, Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork said in response to questions from the Journal about Freeze's travel that the university's investigation uncovered "calls of a similar nature" over the course of several years, often matching up with travel logs showing the coach's use of the school plane. The school said it examined his travel logs from peak recruiting times—often November, December and January—when Freeze would travel out of state, using the school plane and other public resources.

"When we say pattern, we are describing other phone numbers that when you Google them pull up similar type websites, services, however you would describe them," Bjork said. "We took action swiftly."

When the school presented its findings to Freeze, the coach admitted his misconduct and agreed to resign, school officials said.

W.G. Watkins, Freeze's lawyer, declined to comment.

No big revelations in the WSJ story on Freeze, but another interesting element that the calls matched up with recruiting trips.

Any coach who's been around the block knows if they recruit outside the historical norm for their school, it's going raise red flags.

Personally I could careless if he was having an overpaid escort come to his room.

Is the belief that he was arranging escorts just for himself?  or recruits as well?

Most wouldn't if he had not been such a hypocritical fraud masquerading as some paragon of virtue.

So you're saying you do care?

Maybe those escorts were for the recruits, would you care then?

Hugh Freeze Called Houston Massage Company While on December 2016 Recruiting Trip

QuoteFormer Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze used his work mobile phone to call a number associated with a Houston massage company in December 2016, according to phone records obtained by SI.com through an open records request. A website found by searching for the phone number features photos of women in lingerie and offers to come to the client between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. for $180 an hour. According to the site, the company promises "a high level of satisfactory services."

Freeze resigned under pressure on July 20 because of what Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork termed a "concerning pattern" of behavior that Ole Miss officials found when searching through Freeze's phone records.

To add a "sig line" or "signature line": Go to your "profile" then go to "modify profile" then scroll down to where it says "Signature" and type in what you want it to say and then click on "change profile". That's it, you're done. Your sig line will only show up on your first post on each page.

In this mailbag edition of Talk of Champions, Ben Garrett and former Ole Miss DE Kentrell Lockett answer listener questions...

10 minutes in they mention that there is no credible info linking Freeze's massage calls to recruits, that Bjork confirms this, and that nothing would surprise them.

I think the play has been all along, from the school standpoint, to try and say these were for Freeze to keep the NCAA from digging.  But it doesn't take a rocket science to line up the girls and trips and see exactly what Freeze had going on.  Freeze was providing these recruits with free beaver hunting trips.

It's hard to imagine that wasn't what was going on.

It sad that he paraded him self as a fine Christian man like Houston Nutt did.  At least Nutt acted somewhat better.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
