So I'm within a few weeks of renewal for my home and auto insurance.
No claims, no tickets, nothing.

A $1200 increase is the best my current (and now former) insurance agent could do.

What is going on in Arkansas?

What's going on in your zip code? I'm in Arkansas and haven't seen that with my rates. What your company?

I'm 72032 as well and have had my insurance with State Farm for 30+ years. I've thought about switching a couple of times in the past but every time I've comparison shopped the rates couldn't be beat.

They are on my list of insurers to check.

Thanks, HawgWild.

My HO has dropped a few hundred in the last couple of years because I raised my deductible and installed an alarm system. I had some water damage back in 2012 and had to replace sheet rock and wood flooring. State Farm jumped right on it and gave me no hassle at all. My rates didn't rise from the claim either. I quit looking for other companies after this experience.

Do you carry the highest deductible that you'd feel comfortable covering if making a claim? I started out with low deductibles and then figured out it worked against me if I made many claims. I'm only buying help for the big stuff.

If you've been with a company that long there is no need in looking.  State Farm and Farm Bureau give you credit for years insured with them.  If you was to have a fire loss they would be less likely to cut you off versus a new company since you have that relationship with them

I'm currently at a $1,000 deductible and am pretty comfortable with that level.  But this is a good reminder to check and see what the next highest deductible level is....

You should look at higher deductibles. The average homeowner in your area has a claim roughly every 12 years. Most of the time, if you look at your year to year savings compared to the difference in the higher deductible, you'll be saving money after a couple of years. Couple that, if you shop around when doing the repair work, you can often absorb some of the higher deductible that way.

State Farm is great we been with them for 20 + years but with all the storms in the South the past 10 years rates have been creeping up for all of us.

I'm with Farmers, been with them for almost 30 years, rates have been creeping up, so i shopped.  Every one of them were within $100 bucks per year, home and auto, so i stayed.  Last spring I had hail damage to my roof, it was 20+ years old.  They replaced the roof, gutters, and garage door, only $1,500 out of my pocket.  No depreciation, no reduction, paid all but the deductible, needless to say, i was very happy with that.

In March of '16, they informed me that the new roof lowered my premium, retroactive to September, and they sent me a $350 check.  it would be hard for me to leave them at this point, it would have to be a major difference in premiums.

I got something from State Farm for an auto policy saying they'd give me a lower rate if we'd install a monitoring app on the phone and keep it Bluetooth connected so they could track our driving. A little too big brother for me.

I have State Farm.  Had Farm Bureau look at it and was told they couldn't touch it.  Stay put.
