You do this ONLY when your pitchers quit walking people

Just because you sat on the bench for Muss does not mean that you would do so with another coach. Ask Jaxson Robinson. Cal would probably use Pinion in the way he used Shepherd.

But DVH has tried all season to find a magic combination of players to kick-start the offense, and it hasn't worked. Holt, Wilmsmeyer, and Diggs have to be in there, gotta go with your strongest OF at this point and hope that Wilms figures it out. After all his issues last years, Bolton turned it up a notch at the end of the season, fingers crossed.

Quote from: Hollywood_HOGan45 on Today at 09:23:45 pmIt just seems like this time of year we always go through struggles like we have now. We've put up a lot of 5-4 records in the month of May.

The SEC grind. We see it in other sports. At this point, the depth of great coaching, scouting and depth of talent catches up.  Teams can't hide flaws. Books are out on the hitters and pitchers.  Players are banged up.  It is why I dislike conference tourneys so much in basketball and baseball.  Get what work you want done for the NCAAT  done and get out.

She played in the Fiba U20 Euros against competition her own age and was even more underwhelming.7 MPG, 18% from field, 33% from 3, and .8 PPG in a handful of games.  Seems like we're getting maybe a Top 20 player at her age from a small European country with 5.5 million people total.

I can see this train wreck coming  from a mile away. The UCLA men have tried this approach in recent years and actually has the prestige to land Euros  with a little more pro success. They finished last season under .500, and the Euros underachieved. Seems to be a steep learning curve the first couple of years for these kids to adjust. I don't have a women's point of reference though, so maybe I'm mistaken and European Women's basketball players will perform better.

Monday Morning Quarterback / Re: Chamblee to SMU

Quote from: Hogo Piglitz on Today at 01:36:17 pmWhat hill am I  supposedly dying on?

I never said SMU is above Arkansas as a program.
I just pointed to the fact they have a better overall football team at the moment.

Our 4-8 team had as many p5 wins in 2023 as SMU has had over the past 4 years combined. And you think they are a better team than the hogs? Heck, our 4-8 team produced two NFL draft picks and their team had none.

QuoteI'm not going to dog the young man for wanting to change his situation and play the game to have fun and enjoy winning.

It's a lot easier to win, get playing time, and have fun when you drop down a level.

Quote from: Hogo Piglitz on Today at 10:55:58 amMight want to get your eyes checked. One program is on sold footing and trending up. One is not and recruits see this and is the reason why SMU is filling their rosters with P4 players and Arkansas is filling thiers with G5 players. It's sad to see honestly.

I don't care what people think or believe from me I'm just a poster on a message board. But don't pee on us and tell us its raining. What I do care about is what is in black and white because facts are greater than your feelings.

Facts are greater than feelings. Our 4-8 2023 had as many P5 wins as their past 4 teams combined. We had 2 NFL players to their zero.

As for transfers, SMU is getting players who lost their playing time or were never able to earn it in the first place. Look at Chamblee. He was a starter on a 4-8 team, but we upgraded our talent and he got relegated to backup status. OTOH, the G5 players moving up are players who have proven they are too good for the G5 and are being recruited by lots of other power teams as well. Look at some of our power transfers. Judkins is avoiding being downgraded from a P5 PAC to a G6 Big 12 by transferring to the SEC. Sorey is like a Chamblee except he is staying in the SEC and yeah, Bama and UGA's leftovers are good enough for us same way loads of our backups would be starters at places like SMU (see Chamblee).
