Yep, as I remember this came out in the 1960's heyday of Razorback football along with "Jon Brittenum Quarterbacking Man".  Seems like there was another song about Light Horse Harry Jones.

We came to Fayetteville, came to play the Hogs
Ready as a team can be....but they just cant be beat...

Came out after the 65 game and played on KAAY all week before the Texas game every year after.  Good times...except we did not beat them very often!

I am old enough to remember but I had forgotten.  But I will never forget where I was when Hatfield had the return heard round the world against Texas.  I was sitting in the stands at Arkansas State Teachers College watching Arkansas Tech play them and hearing language I hadn't heard at a sports gathering before.  I was seeing players cussed as they left the field at halftime and the players using the middle finger salute to the opposing crowd.  Quite a learning experience for a young Kid in those days.  We heard the return on a portable transistor radio, pocket size.  As players, had we acted like that in High School, we would have never seen the field again in any sport.

My dad would have been 4 yrs old when this came out, but I would take this over 99 percent of today's crap that gets played.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting this.  For you youngsters, Short Squashed Texan was a parody of the song Long Tall Texan, first recorded by the Four Flickers, but the one I remember was the Kingsmen version.

Yup. Remember hearing it non-stop riding to and from games with my dad and his buddies back in the early 70's. In hindsight, I think the main reason I was brought along was because I was small enough to fit in the back of the station-wagon where the cooler was. In other words -- I was the designated bartender...

Ha! No doubt....Does anyone remember the Razorback record albums that NAPA Auto Parts put out in the late 70s-early 80s? They put out a football & basketball edition. I have the basketball edition on the wall in my office, but cant post the picture.

Heres a link to the football version....

the local radio station where I'd listen to games used to play that right before they went to the broadcast every Saturday. Did not matter if they were playing Texas or a TExas team ( which was every SWC game ).
