I have an interesting circumstance here at Dyess. They are looking to stand up a reserve unit for the B-1b here. Just curious to if any of you went from AD to ARTS and the first hand account benifits or horror stories.  Why go reserve?  Why stay AD?

I spent sometime as an Air Technician. While they are not exactly the same, they are very similar.

You are both an ART (civil service) and a military member of the reserve. You are building two retirements. You can work  to 60 years old. The downside is you work 40  hours per week plus you do reserve training. At least once a month , you can plan on working 12 days in a row. Frankly, a lot of AD are not used to the work load.
The Democrats are the party that says government can make you richer, smarter, taller and get the crabgrass out of our lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then they get elected and prove it....P.J. O'Rourke
