This is the first game of a 3 game SEC series between Arkansas (22-16, 7-8 SEC) and #1 Texas A&M (34-3, 11-3 SEC) at Blue Bell Park, College Station, Tx. This series marks the start of the second half of SEC play for both teams, with Arkansas having won 3 SEC series in a row while Texas A&M has won all 5 SEC series this season. Arkansas begins the day in 3rd place and 4.5 games back of A&M in the West Division of the conference while A&M leads the SEC overall by a half game over Vanderbilt from the East. Arkansas has won 8 of their last 10 games, while A&M has achieved the same mark.

This is the 72nd meeting between the two clubs with Arkansas having won 34 of the contests in the all-time series, including 5 of 7 games since the Aggies entered the SEC during the 2013 season. The Razorbacks went 3-1 against Texas A&M last season, taking two of three in Fayetteville, before eliminating the Aggies in the first round of the SEC Tournament. This marks the first time the teams have played in College Station as SEC members. Sixty of the meetings came between 1974-91 when both teams were members of the Southwest Conference. The last two seasons the squads have met in Fayetteville and Hoover.

Arkansas Friday Starter:
Arkansas will send junior RHP Trey Killian to the mound for his third straight start in the Friday night series-opening role and 7th start of the season, after missing a few starts early in the year. Killian is coming off a quality start against Kentucky, tossing 6.0 innings and giving up just one run to earn his first victory of the year. He has allowed three earned runs or less in four of his six starts this season. After throwing 7.0 perfect innings against the No. 5 team in the country, Killian was named Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week, earlier this year.

Texas A&M Friday Starter:
Texas A&M will send RHP Grayson Long to the mound for his 10th start of the year. Long has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week twice in 2015. In his last eight starts he's 7-0 with a 1.33 ERA, 55 strikeouts and a 1.01 WHIP. Long is the Aggies' career-active-leader in wins (17), innings pitched (186.1) and strikeouts (153).

For many years, Hogville members who love Razorback Baseball have come together to produce these game threads with play-by-play narrative for those that depend on it as their only source and for those that just simply enjoy it. These threads have been a foundation for great Hogville discussions and that tradition continues today as this is NOT a read only thread (all Hogville posting rules apply).

As always, I plan to be here with Hog fans to enjoy the game, commentary and discussions and I plan to help with the game thread today.

PoconoHog has posted that he will provide play-by-play narrative for this game.

Looks like a nice ballpark. Guess they are still working on the football stadium but those cranes look too close to be part of that project. Those Aggies should engineer a big fan to blow the rain away from the ballpark.

We've got dark skies, lots of lightning in the area, a tarp on the field and the Hogs are headed to the indoor for some more BP.

I'm with ya GatorHog.   I'll go have a cold one with the next door neighbors and check back in a bit.

Killian faced a lot of these same hitters last year, but they have improved quite a bit per their stats.

It did go through a period of near extinction, IIRC.

Are the games going to be 9 innings....or just 7 innings?
9 innings today if we play a DH.  7 innings on Sunday or the last day of the series if it is not Sunday.  I think 7 innings would favor us because of our lack of bullpen depth.

Wish we would keep today's 1 thru 5 in the lineup, in the same order for every game, but I know DVH likes to have one of the better hitters or a hot bat mixed in the bottom half somewhere. Wernes is that guy some of the time.
