Auburn to win the West
Florida to win the East
Auburn to win SEC Championship

Hogs picked to finish 7-5 overall

You think this sounds about right, or do you disagree?

Wow, they are really high on Auburn. I would pick Florida to win the SEC.

kuhog

I would pick LSU to win the West, and Florida to win the East. Then Florida wins the SEC championship.

As for Arkansas at 7-5. That sounds about right.

abq

I was thinking LSU for the West also. Their offense should be killer. We'll find out pretty quick since the Auburn/LSU matchup is Sep16. What will also be interesting is they both play Florida a week apart. LSU on Oct 7 and Auburn on Oct 14. Auburn gets both teams at home, while LSU is away for both matchups.

I think those dates are correct.

wincrimson

Aubarn wins the West. You can take that to the bank, sadly.

You ok Win'?  I bet that was tough to type.  Your probation really allowed TT to get the barners rolling.

Arkansas has the most returning starters, however, you have to figure in the last 3 years recruiting and the coaching staff. I will add the average recruiting class in the next post.

With all of this said, I think Georgia and Florida will be in a dog-fight for the east, and LSU, Auburn, and Bama fighting it out in the west. Bama is recruiting better, but the last couple of classes are not as good as Auburns and LSUs. If there is a sleeper this year, it will be Arkansas, but all cylinders most fire early and often. Don't be suprised in a year or two to here Ole Miss mentioned in the discussion, their coach is pulling some nice recruits from the west coach. I love GM, but I think his star will shine somewhere else. HDN is in his last year unless the D and O coach pull him out of a tailspin.

I was listening to D-1 Sports SEC show on the way home from work tonight.  The two guys who do the show gave Arkansas a little love but the team that has them wondering is Ole Miss.  With the JC recruits coming in along with the rest of the class they put together, both Arnell and Kincade say the Rebels could be a sleeper in the West.  They also said the Rebs could be a bust too...but they didn't talk like they really thought that would happen.

Yeah UU, Ole Miss is pulling from the SEC and the PAC. I think their coach, if given time, will create a high-octane O, whereas HDN better hope for rocket fuel on the offensive side, and a Brick wall on the Defensive side. Truth be told - I could see it happening with an interim Head Coach, but with .... I doubt it. you know who I am talking about (those we don't speak of).

Hogs had something like 17 starters returning last year and proceeded to go 4-7 off a 5-6 season. Returning starters at U of A means nothing...at least it means no more than it does at Vandy. We are basically an Oklahoma State.

At least 8 wins or clean house.
With the schedule and the talent we have coming back and arriving this fall, there are NO reasons at all why we can't finsish at least 8-4 this season. Well I can think of one BIG reason but we still should finish with 8 Ws

I actually think we have a shot. They've beaten us 4 straight times you know. And out of the 3 times we have played them at Bryant-Denny, we've lost all 3 times.

Anyway, I know that we'll come into that game with blood in one eye and Shiite in the other due to last year's game and that we'll have a rockin crowd waiting for the visiting inbreds from East Alabama.

We have a great shot. But as of right now, I'd give them the edge. It's only fair.

pbjones81

Anything worse than 8-4 is unacceptable.  And we should start Mustain from day 1.

dawgsnhawgs

florida is overrated in my opinion (and their schedule is extremely tough), and georgia is going to have a semi-rebuilding year.  with that said, i still think those two will fight it out to win the east but i think the west will be much stronger than the east this year.  auburn and lsu are both looking good, and i think that arkansas may have a shot to win the west

cmakrzrbak

7-5 should mean HDN is shown his papers.  8-4 will keep him his job.  9-3 with a couple close victories will make believers (nationally) of Malzahn.  I just hope our "D" plays up to its potential.

That is what the "experts" are also saying.  I'm hearing most don't believe UT has the horses to bring them all the way back this fall.  Georgia kind of has the same question mark we do...how good will their QB be?  Otherwise, they seem ready to battle Florida for the East.  Some radio guy down here says the East is a matter of  "the haves" and "the have nots".  In other words, Florida and Georgia then the rest of the East.  The West seems to be much tougher to call.  A lot of possible turnarounds with Auburn and LSU pretty well loaded up.

Ole Miss has propped up its recruiting on a bunch of long-shots academically and some JUCO guys. As we know from experience, JUCO guys are very hit and miss. For example:  when Bama signs a JUCO they hit and we miss.
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater. Auburn is getting alot of love nationally.  I think they are pretty much a consensus top 10 team right now.

We'll probably finish 2nd.  Maybe third.  That's better than we're picked to do.  So, I guess that means the coaches will be doing a pretty good job.

Hogs will probably be 9-3 with a trip to the Cotton Bowl and the darksiders will proclaim Gus Malzhan a god.

We'd better go at least 8-4.  Also, Auburn might win the west, but they won't be SEC champs.

Yep.  Mal-Zeus.

I think I just came closer to the correct pronunciation of his name than HDN does.

i think with the returning starters and the new talent coming in i think that 8-4 would be a slap in the face, so ill give the hogs the west and tennesse the east who knows what happens from there
You wanna know what the hardest thing about being an Ole Miss fan is?........ Telling you're parents that you're gay!..... Arkansas football is my passion. Hating colonel REB is more like a hobby of mine.

7-5 is a safe prediction. Nutty has trouble winning more than half his sec games no matter how strong the team, see '03.

"Nutt takes hogs to the Massengil Mouthwash of Champions Bowl, in lovely downtown shreveport.  Huggers ecstatic. Film at 10."

That's what you say or what SN says? Either way, having Ole Miss ahead of Bama seems a little strange. LSU, Aubarn, and Arkansas being ahead of the Tide might be realistic, but not Ole Piss.

Actually, I think SN had Bama third behind Auburn and LSU with Arkansas 4th and finishing 7-5.  Also 4-4 in conference.  Guess they are just going on recent history.
