We owe coach Heath an enormous apology....

Give Altman five years and I'll let you know.  Or 3.

Bomis Hawg

Altman.  I'd take Altman over Majerus.  Maybe Mike Montgomery.
Nice upgrade.
Arkansas and maybe South Florida are getting two good coaches.  Both should benefit.

BIGHOGFAN05

I would have to say Altman, since heath was already given the boot...preferably neither

What the Hell for?  He is the one that can't coach.

Pigonometry

Altman ---- he has a lot more coaching experince if nothing else...........
Baseball is simple, but never easy.

Lokirain

Heath. This Altman hire is worse than the Heath one. Broyles fired Heath thinking he had Guillespie, now we are stuck with this guy. Good lord it's great to be a Hogs fan.

Really?  Altman lost in the first round to Nevada.  Upgrade?  I think not.

Tortfeasor

Altman.  At least with him we can hold out hope that he can actually coach his players.  With Heath, we knew that was not the case.

ALTMAN.........ALTMAN.....ALTMAN........

I like Stan....but we had to make a change.

PLAYBOAR

Altman >>>>>> Heath.

And it's not even close.
Hey Ref, does your wife know you're screwing us?

ceegar

Altman.  No question.  Maybe not my first choice but an upgrade from what we had.  imo
Go Hogs. Go Noles.

notreseveredname

Altman,

Nothing would have changed with Heath.

PrescottHog

Heath. THinks to Frank we now have a down grade, Heath made the tournament this year and Altman didnt

Creighton was a 10 seed.  And lost.  Arkansas was a 12 seed.  And lost.
I recall Arkansas losing as an 8 seed last year.

Lokirain

Heath wasn't a great coach, but Altman will be worse. This sucks it bigtime, as usual Arkansas fans get to relive the glory of yesteryear while the rest of the SEC can focus on their future.

We both know Heath was a bad hire.  That is a fact.  Why not wait and see what Altman can do at Arkansas.

Heath and it's not even close.  Altman wanted the Iowa job and didn't even get a sniff at it and he's from that area.  And the recruiting, I'm excited about getting a bunch of white guys that can shoot, woo-hoo.  At least we should be able to get Rotnei Clark now I guess.

BlakeHOGfanatic

Heath....I was ok with Heath's firing to get a high profile coach like BCG but to end up getting DANA i feel like we downgraded. Creighton has never made it to the elite 8 with Dana in all his years

Nolan was right.

Altman, and it's not even close.

I don't care if he can't recruit as well as Heath;  I do care that his teams are always tough, and never give up; they play above themselves, rather than down to the competition.

Overachievers > Underachievers
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Bring Back Heath

UAfan

Altman.  If he can do what he did at Creighton at Arkansas than you might as well multiply that by 10.

And settle for mediocrity!

RedSatinHog

We should have held onto Heath for another season and let him leave on his own terms.
Pts/Game: 122nd
Rebounds/Game: 208th
Assists/Game:  240th
FG%:  173rd

Mediocrity is what we ended up with anyway.  What's the difference?

The way I see it, we'll be lucky to break .500 next year.

The only person happy with Altman is probably Preston Cranford because he knows Altman is used to dealing with slow white boys who can shoot like himself.

Multiply what by 10.  His Tourney record? I'm trying to stay positive because he hasn't coached a game for us yet.  But my gut say's WTH.

Gonzo

Looking at their records after similar points in their carreers, it looks like a tossup. If that's the case, I think Heath should have not been canned. For a clear ugrade, maybe, but I don't see this move as that right now. I hope it winds up being one.

Go Hogs!

That's sorta what I have been saying. We needed to let a REAL AD hire a basketball coach. Broyles screwed us one last time.

No_nuts

I would of prefered to keep Heath over Altman.
I would have hoped we could have shelled out some
money for a big name coach.
I just don't think Arkansas is willing to pay enough
for a top coach to come here.

We know we would win 20+ games with Heath and
the current players and make the NCAA again, with Altman
we don't know if he can coach to the level of the SEC yet.

As long as we win the SEC west and make the
sweet 16 next year I'm ok with it.
Thats the same requirement which would have been
made of Heath.

Leave on his own terms??? That would be at the end of next season with 7 open scholarships.  No Thanks.  Welcome to Arkansas Dana, ignore some of the fans.

check your facts before you post.  they lost to nevada.
Altman might have more coaching experience but I don't want a mid-major.

taoteching

It is a moot point now.

I kinda like the idea of having a coach that enjoys the science of basketball.

Razorfox

His teams play hard, that's enough for me.

LowDownDirty

Stupid question!
