Yeah, someone please refresh my memory on Memphis basketball history. I know they've been competitive of late....but their tradition is laughable compared to Arkansas in any sport.

They were very good in the 1950's when they went to the finals of the NIT in New York. Win Wilfong from Puxico, Mo was the point guard. Later played in NBA. Arnold Ryan was assistant coach. Don't remember the HC's name.

Wow. Have you taken a glance at what they are saying about Arkansas over there on the Memphis board? Why is it every time a coach is talking to another school, these people have to relentlessly bash on the school their coach is interested in. Then they have to rah rah each other about how their coach would never want to coach there....it's an inferior school....etc, etc.

This is especially funny coming from traditionally basketball rich schools such as ATM and Memphis.

How can anyone from Memphis insult Arkansas? I mean its Memphis. We have the top facilities in the nation, they have...Graceland. I won't even be able to get pissed off if someone from Memphis comes over here talking crap. And good Lord if they post Memphis porn...vomit.

I went to a class on the UM campus, for my job back in Feb. I'll say this there are some fine looking women there. I used to date a girl who graduated from there,she is a huge Tiger fan. I think I'll give her a call if this comes true.

They may be Memphis now, but they will always be Memphis State to anyone that can remember that far back.  I also like the name Tiger High.   

It must be so sad being Memphis, We at Arkansas bash our football program all the time, and we went 10-4.   Sadly, Nutt could be offensive coordinator, head coach, and play quarterback running back and wide reciever all game long and we would still beat Memphis in football

After the aTm crowd I would not be too worried about the Memphis crew.  After all, isn't Memphis a school for those who couldn't get into Vandy? 

....and tennessee.......and ole miss........and middle tennessee st.

and Mississippi State and West Tennessee School of Typewriter Repair..

All of which have beat Arkansas in basketball last year, right ?

How many final fours has Memphis been to ....out of curiosity. Even with the over-talented underacheiving Finch teams?

2 with one championship game appearance.  Finch actually played on that team, got beat by UCLA back in 73.

I would say that at least Memphis has more basketball tradition than Texas A&M..

They also went in the early 80's with West Memphis's Keith Lee.

I never understood why they ever changed its name from Memphis State University to the University of Memphis.  It just sounded better as Memphis State. The logo on the helments looked better too.  :razorback:

i knew keith lee, michael cage, aaron price, mike stallings, mike mcferrin--that was a great west memphis blue devil team--i lived across the street from the high school---when i was about 8 and had a low goal they (lee,cage,ect...) would come and put on a dunking display on game days while they waited for the start of the girls----this is not to slam keith because it is very sad---he did not learn to write his name until the 10th grade---my future biology teacher taught him--mrs. brown (who by the way was the wife of green bay packer great big bob brown). last i saw him he was hobbling up and down the court refereeing a girls club game in west memphis---again, sad.

I may live in Arkansas but no city in this state can touch the city of Memphis when it comes to the ladies.

OLD MY GOD there are some women in that city!

They are everywhere and there are so many that you can find them Tunica and Robinsonville working at the Casinos making that part of Miss a better looking place to visit.

You don't have to go to the ATL to get the Candy, Memphis satisfies every man's desire, a great menu of Black, White, and Hispanic delights.You can sprinkle in some Oriental spices as well.

Other then the Women I can't think of anything else I like about the city of Memphis or want from there.
