Or it could be as simple as Wally has had to pussyfoot around the company line with the UofA athletic department to protect his access for his whole journalistic career and he's sick of doing it.  Now that he's near retirement age he's decided "screw it, I'll say what I want whether they like ot or not."

None of this is news but the fact that an Arkansas  local media guy would say it on PF is huge.  Arkansas media is almost never critical of the current coach until just before they leave.

I actually listened to the Wally interview and have a hard time disagreeing with much of what he said.

Wally said Bielema was a speaker at some conference in Texas for high school coaches and made a speech saying their spread offenses didn't work and if you tried that against a power running team they would run it right down your throat. Or something to that effect, don't remember exactly what Hall said other than it didn't go over very well with coaches you need a connection with for recruiting.

Btw, that was one of the lamest criticisms of a coach I've ever heard... "He pissed off officials at the Cotton Bowl and Arkansas would never be invited back".  Shut up!

I guarantee you nobody in Texas even knows about the Cotton Bowl thing because the people who caused it had just as soon it be forgotten.  However what BB said was broadcast far and wide and when TT took us to the woodshed they got a good laugh out of it.

At no point do I mention that Bobby should be or was hired to be a saint.  The point was that he also pissed off people in Texas over something he said or did.  The poster I was responding to originally acted as if BP was innocent and the only person to actually upset anyone in Texas was CBB.

Coaches ARE hired to do more than Win. Check their contracts.

edit: I FORGOT - he said that JL is a new style of AD, that might know how to raise money but doesn't know anything about hiring coaches.

edit2: he said that cbb didn't know what he was getting into in the SEC. he mentioned having No Identity, even though we're supposed to be a run team.

edit3: he mentioned the revolving door with assistants. that it's ironic because cbb complained that he couldn't pay them at wisconsin. said we could pay them at arkansas and they still leave. he mentioned better jobs, but his implication was all on cbb not being all that and a bag of chips.

This is what I've been saying since 2007. And I like Jeff. But it's always about mo' money. His coaching hires are suspect at best. Too bad that's the most important part of the job.

Aren't we forgetting the time Wally went on Georgia radio in 2005 prior to the UA/UGA game in Athens and said 'this is the worst Arkansas team...'

Then he craw-dadded later for the folks back home...as if he didn't realize people would hear about what he said on Georgia radio.
