Anyone have any experience with Silent Manufacturing in Fayetteville?  I'm thinking of getting one of their 22lr suppressors as they are local and may have them do some barrel threading, etc. for me as well.  Please PM me if you don't want to post on here.

Ended up buying a couple of suppressors and getting several rifles threaded.  If you are in NWA and needed threading work, I am pleased with his work and the price is good.  I've had him shorten and thread a few and will have him do a couple more for me in the next few months.

What's the process for getting the stamp looking like these days? I have a 22 threaded and waiting to be suppressed

Trust laws changed this summer which caused a huge increase in applications.  The paperwork is now simplified but will take many months for the ATF to get caught up.  I'm hoping for a 6 month wait but it will probably be longer.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a moron about guns and hunting. Why would one want a silent shot? Thanks.

Most people like to quiet things down just for the sake of their ears. When I get the 5.56 out I'm using plugs and muffs to keep from losing my hearing. I don't have any experience with a suppressed 5.56 but I'm guessing it's a lot quieter. For hunting, a suppressed .22lr subsonic is great for squirrel hunting.

For the same reasons someone would want a muffler on their car.  My question would be why would you not want a suppressor?

Here is a video on one of the suppressors I bought.  If you understand decibel levels and hearing damage, you can certainly appreciate why you would use a suppressor.  You can still get hearing damage using either ear plugs or muffs.  I use both and still have quite a bit of tinnitus.  I will still use ear plugs with the silencer except while hunting which will decrease my hearing damage greatly.

They are nothing like what Hollywood portrays them as.  For the most part they just reduce hearing damage.  The ridiculous thing is they are regulated the same as a full auto machine gun in this country.  England encourages hunters to use them there.

It's so dumb. Like you said, they don't work *that* good. And they're so unwieldy and screw up your aim(I'm thinking pistol here) that you're not going to see people start committing murder with suppressors just because they can get one. I can't see how the use of a suppressor could hinder a criminal investigation nor how it's going to help criminals. So dumb

Congrats on the cans!  I'm glad to see another option for NFA stuff in NWA.

Nfatracker.com is a good resource to see current wait times and trends.
