Hogs are still a 5 seed; SEC has six in; and A&M is one of the last four in.

FWIW, moves Hogs to the South Regional.

I can honestly see the hogs making the final 4 in that bracket and possible better.

In that event, probably a 3 seed, possibly a 2.

It's unlikely any of the current 1/2 seeds lose their spot.  This year is really top-heavy, and the gap right now between those 8 and everyone else is just too big.  Kansas is the only team in that group with more than 3 losses, and they have the #1 RPI and SOS.

Winning out, with pair of wins over Kentucky, could be enough to jump us over Arizona or Kansas if one of them faltered down the stretch.  The top 6 are pretty much locked in.

We would be in the South Regional yet we would be playing in Seattle Washington? That makes no sense whatsoever.

IMHO if the Hogs finish the regular season at 25-6 then win 2 games as the second seed in the SEC Tournament, they should be a lock for a #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Tuttle of UNi would be a real pain in the rear in that second game.  The 8/9 matchup in the South offers next to no quality and would be an easy walkover for Duke.  Both Ind and Texas are under performers and would get romped on.  I guess you could always hope Yogi Farrell went berserk and made K work for his win.  If you were to get by Dook, you'd be looking at Kaminsky and Wisconsin in the Elite 8.  I would not be chomping at the bit for that matchup.  They are a really sharp team.  Style-wise, they would probably be worse for us than the Blue Devils.  I'm not buying Utah as that 3 seed and don't see any way they get by Wisconsin.

We can handle Louisville. They're not deep and losing that guard was a big loss.

The other side of the bracket is interesting too, ISU and Arizona the clear favorites, I like our chances against both of them if it came down to it.

Louisville would be a good 2nd round matchup.  We could handle them.  If we are shooting lights out, and actually defending the 3 ball, we can beat the Zags too.  You can't leave Bell, Pangos, and Wiltjer open deep though or they will gut you.

I know I am looking way ahead but.......it has us as a 5 seed facing Harvard and then potentially a reeling 4 Louisville in the next round.  This could be a huge gift to getting us to the sweet sixteen to face Gonzaga, who might be the weakest 1 seed. If this prediction holds, I can't think of an easier path to making a magical run!

I think that's an elite 8 bracket for us. Louisville can't shoot the ball and Petino just kicked a player off his team. Gonzaga is the 1 seed that I would want to play.

I'm with Hawg Red, their resume isn't impressive at all.  They are 1-1 against the RPI top 50.  And have a loss to a 100+ RPI team.  If that's the qualifications for a 4 Seed, we need to see about joining the Missouri Valley conference, because I'm sure we could do their schedule every year and it'll look about the same as NIU's look now.

And it's kind of a double standard, because the committee always stresses SOS and playing someone. Yet, every year you'll see a mid-major like NIU and Wichita State get a great seeding and they only play 1 or 2 decent teams all year.

Teams like WSU will get a high seed, IF they only lose 1 or 2 games during the season.  Let them lose 5 or 6 and they are going to be an 8 or lower. IF a team in 30-1 or 28-2, they are going to be a high seed, period. Not saying it is right.

Gonzaga is not the ball club that we faced. They have a tall lanky player that is talented but disappears a lot and Pangos.  I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make it out of the first two rounds.

Agreed. If the Hogs win 2 of the next three then make it to the SEC Tournament Championship game as the #2 seed, they deserve that #3 NCAA seed over Oklahoma.

Just ran some numbers.  All things being constant, if we lose to Kentucky tomorrow our RPI will move up from 20 to 18.  If we win, we will move up to #12.

I admit I don't know much about college basketball nationwide but if the SEC gets 6 in the tourney, I would be very surprised.  I think 4 is a stretch but likely.  I realize that several teams will still play themselves in while several will play themselves out even at this late date.

Our possible staying power in the tourney may be better though if the SEC deserves 6 entrants.  That indicates the tourney will be overall weaker than normal.

The SEC probably should get only 4 teams into the NCAAT (Kentucky, Hogs, Ole Miss, and LSU).  Georgia probably lost their NCAAT possibility when they lost to Auburn at home, and as of now Texas A&M doesn't have a win against a top 50 RPI team.

anybody think we may get a 4 just because we are the second best team in the SEC, and the SEC is better this year?  With all these 4 seed predictions, I am starting to think so, because otherwise I was really expecting a 5 at best
