AQ Chicken House is really good.  AQ stands for Arkansas Quality.  Also if you want Mexican, go to Jose's on Dickson Street.

Porky OLeary

You could stay in Booger Holler, it's not far from Eureka. They've got a two story outhouse.

Maybe not the best food although I think it's really good but the best Margaritas around.

Hello Hogs...looking forward to my trip to Fayeteville.  Should be a good match up this year.  Since all the hotels are sold out in Fayetteville. I am tentatively planning on staying at the Ramada in Lowell.  I would appreciate any advice on whether this is a smart move or if there are better options.  Also, recomendations on restaurants and bars would be great.  Thanks in advance.  Look forward to tailgating with some Hogs in early September.

Everybody is tossing out ideas about hotels when this guy has already reserved rooms at the Ramada in Lowell.  He just needs some confirmation that this is a good place to stay if any of you have some info on it.

Trojan, I haven't stayed there but I think that the Ramada there is new and it is in a pretty good location.  I think it is as good as anything else - there's nothing wrong with it.  There are not many rooms left in the area for that weekend so you should stick with what you have.

You'll have easy access to I-540 and you can take it north to restaurants in Rogers 5 minutes away or south to Fayetteville 15 minutes away.  If you want the Razorback football game experience, Dickson Street is the place.  Being from SoCal, it won't seem like much to you, but Dickson Street is an integral part of Fayetteville and it is right on the edge of the UA campus.  It's just a great place to go and hang out.

If you're not busy tailgating before the game, a pregame ritual my wife and I have always followed is to park over on Dickson Street (Walton Arts Center parking lot) and walk across the campus to the stadium.  The UA campus is very compact, so it isn't that far and it's a pretty walk.  It kinda puts me in the "college football mood".

You'll walk on the Senior Walk (every UA graduate has their name imprinted in countless sidewalks criss-cossing campus - over 130,000 names), you can see Old Main (historic building that housed the entire university back in 1872), and you'll get a feel for what the UA is all about.  As you walk over the last hill by the Student Union, suddenly you see Razorback Stadium, bustling with activity.

Hey, I'm ready for some football just thinking about it!  After the game, you will already have your car parked on Dickson Street and you can just hang out in that area.

Check back with us as the gameday approaches and we can give you some more specifics about restaurants, etc.

+1...I got chills thinking about walking across campus...man I can't wait till September 3rd (or 2nd, whatever).

If you or any other USC fans have some extra time to enjoy the area here is an idea:

http://www.nps.gov/buff/pphtml/maps.html

If you use mapquest, input a zip code of 72687 and look for the main park South of Yellville, AR.  There are canoes available for rent (make reservations).  It is a beautiful area.

Welcome to NW Arkansas.

Stay at the Ramada in Lowell. Go South to Fay and the game...Go North to Rogers and Restaurant Row.

Be aware if you stay in Lowell, Rogers, Bentonville, anywhere in Benton County, it is a dry county.  You can get served at bars and resturants but there are no liquor stores in the county.  Nearest one to the Ramada is south on 540 at the Elm Springs exit in Springdale.

If you are flying in the drive from the airport makes you think youlanded in the wrong spot, be patient, civilization is just around the corner.  Also, if flying into NWA, the Ft. Smith option is a pretty good drive from the airport.

Trojan Fan dont take this personally I am sure you are a fine human.  But stay in Cali, dont come to the game you are not welcome.

Cmon Hogvillians  You think any self respecting SEC schools would be kind to the enemy,  try going to Gainsville or Baton Rouge.  They let you know your not welcome on their turf.   Irwin has always said we need to show hate and discontent for our opponents in this case I agree.  Shame on any Hog who welcomes the enemy with open arms.   If you see them at the stadium, BOO & HISS. Be creative not profane and make them feel as unwanted as possible.

First of all learn how to quote.  Secondly, there is nothing wrong with being friendly with fans of another school.  At the USC game no one gave me or my wife trouble.  Please show a little respect.

Yes learning to "Quote" is a skills I really need to focus on.
We as fans need to make our venues as uncomfortable as possible for the opponets and their fans.   I was at the Missouri State game at BWA and some slacker fans allowed the fans to get their tickets and sit right behind me.  First I find it horrible for fans to buy tickets and not show up.  I missed one game this year due to business trip and I gave my tix not sold but gave my tix to someone I knew would not only show up but cheer.  How do I know they were slacker fans because when they finally did show up i ask if these were their season tickets and when they said yes I proceed to chastise them for not showing up to games and selling the tix to the enemy.   I do not like anyone we play and I never will.   Again give the visitors all kinds of grief, no profanity and be creative.

OK, first off don't stay anywhere near the campus because it's in the middle of the shithole of all shithole's. However, don't be concerned, because when you arrive and pay 40 bucks to park in gangland there will be police on every corner to keep you safe from drive-bys. While walking to the stadium you will meet every snooty, rich asswipe in the area who will generally treat you like something they found floating in their pool after a porn shoot. The facilities at the stadium are absolute crap and you will find that your visitor ticket affords you a seat 1.3 million light years away from any football game. During the game several gangbangers will troll your area shouting expletives and brandishing knives to anyone who dares react. Security/Ushers will consist of two high-school dropouts who can't figure out how to work their radios and really could not care less anyway. Make sure your kids are available for that show. Afterwards do not attempt to remain in the general area and take in some of the local collegiate atmosphere as every 19 year old punk with mommy and daddy's credit cards will attempt to start a fight with you.

Oh....wait.....this is what we should have been warned about last year when planning a visit to your place. The Ramada in Lowell is fine now Frank off.

Yeah, right. Just make sure you use the outhouse on the top floor.
Yeah, I told Ferret Mop, et al in 2005 that hiring Mal-a-za-wan was just smoke and mirrors from Dale to get Mustain and the others from Springdale to commit...and keep the stadium and the RF coffers full...but did they believe me? Hell no, I got banned. I told ya so.

If you contribute money to this fluster cluck, you are a sucker.

Yes, it is common knowledge that everyone from Southern California owns waders and doesn't leave home without them.   ;)

Jose's has a great atmosphere I think.  The salsa is what brings me to the place, it goes great with beer.  I go to Jose's every time I'm in NWA.  I usually get the Fajitas which are really good.  It's really more Tex Mex than actual Mexican though.

If you go onto campus be sure to check out the Hog Statue that is in my avatar.  It's right by the Student Union Building.  Nothing really great about it, but its my tradition to get a picture by it everytime I come up to NWA.

Be sure to check out the Broyles Complex located in the North Endzone.  It's free to the public and open during the day.  It has lots of pictures, trophies, and many other Razorback history.  Sometimes you might run into a coach or a player if you're by the elevator.   This is the building below the huge video screen.

While in the stadium head to the South Endzone.  There's a big food court where you can still view the game.  Lots of different foods, but I prefer the BBQ Pork Sandwiches.  There's also a Razorback Shop located if you would like something to take back home with ya.  In the West and East Stands checkout Bowl and Championship Alleys.  Lots of historic Razorback moments listed.

Get into the stadium early.  Lots of great pregame traditions and our Band was named as the nation's best band by some group last year(sorry I don't know the name of the group)

Also, you got to checkout Baum Stadium(the baseball field)  It has been voted best in the nation by many publications.  It's also offers lots of parking and is a good place to tailgate.  It's located near I-540, so you won't have to worry about traffic after the game.  It is a bit of a walk, but its located on Razorback Road which is the same road the stadium is on.

Overall have a great time and a safe trip.

Exactly.  The vast majority of our fans are hospitable.  I simply don't understand harrassing visitors.

It is the players' and coaches' jobs to make life miserable for opposing fans (good luck with that); there's no point in fans simply lacking class.

There are 12 of us in my group coming from LA and we would be honored to attend the tailgate if invited.  We host a large tailgate for all home games (and several away games) and we had several traveling Hogs at our tailgate last year in LA (woopig folks).  Let me know where and when and we will be there.  We will be kind and respectful, but of course we will be wearing Cardinal & Gold and cheering for the Trojans.  Looking forward to talking some football this summer.

Welcome to the board and I hope you have a great trip.

This is exactly how I feel.  I have been to a lot of games across the country and most of the people have always been nice.  I don't understand why you would disrespect someone just because of the team that they support.  We are all football fans.  During the game is when you are suppose to yell and make them feel uncomfortable.
My girl told me to whisper something sexy in her ear...so I leaned in and said....Dominic Fletcher.

Baton Rouge I had no problems other than fans yelling Tiger Bait at you and that's nothing bad.  You just yell back Go Hogs and everyone laughs.   In Gainsville I've never had any problems.  Fans might do the Gator Chomp, but its nothing rude.

I love this guys spirit and this is the type of fan you will run into for the most part during your visit. Now, I was venting in my post above, but you will have a great time unless you are the type of prick I was venting about. If you do show up looking for an asskicking you will be obliged readily followed by a stay in a beautiful southern jail. However, I would imagine if you actually travel to follow the Trojans you are a decent sort who will enjoy a great stay in Fayetteville.

Just a few words of advice. Enjoy the campus, it's beautiful and open to tailgating anywhere there is a grassy area, which is almost everywhere. Keep any adult beverages in a red Solo cup and the campus and local police will not have a problem unless you are being an ass. On that note, the police do a fine job of keeping everyone safe, but they do take their job seriously (as they should). They will take you to jail for [CENSORED] up. However, we have always had a great relationship with them at the Hogville tailgates and we actually set up across the street from police headquarters on Razorback Road.

99.9% of the Hog fans you will meet will be extremely gracious in the tradition of southern hospitality. However, you will meet a couple of drunken chicken [CENSORED] rednecks. Ignore them.

Razorback Stadium is a palace. Show up early and take a walk through it. Your visitor ticket will afford a great view, mostly between the endzone and the 20 of the eastside, close to the field.

Dickson Street, which leads up to the University from the east is a must the night before, just before and definitely after the game. Once again, most folks will be cordial with the exception of a few rednecks. Police presence will be heavy and they do not tolerate drinking in the street. They do a great job, so don't do anything to make their job harder.

Ramada in Lowell is fine, but keep checking other options along 540 for cancellations. Don't drink and drive and by all means buy me drinks if you are lucky enough to actually meet me. If a drive through the mountains is interesting, book something in Eureka Springs and spend a day up there checking things out.

hogfan064

What is the name of the place on Dickson that is kind of a biker bar?  They don't serve food.  Alot of people avoid the place because they think its a rough hangout, but I always drop in for a beer.  It's got pool tables in the back and the bar is on the left as soon as you walk in

That is what I was going to say. Dickson is a must. Powerhouse Restaurant in Fayetteville is good too. Anyplace with a patio and live band and cold beer is good too. Razordrummer can probably tell you where is band is playing that weekend, they are very good.

I appreciate the advice abq, we travel all over for Trojan games and we are well-behaved.  We have seen all types of fans and look forward to our trip to Fayetteville.  We typically show up 8-12 hours before gametime at home, so my guess is that we will get to campus early and have breakfast...spend the whole day there.  See you in September.

If this turns out to be anything as big as the 2004 Texas game was for us (which I hope it is), you'll have a blast on campus.  It'll be one of the best atmospheres you'll see.  Good luck to you and enjoy your stay in the 'ville.  Look forward to talking football in the coming months.

Be sure to stop by the Hogville tailgate on Razorback Road leading up to the stadium. We start early, very early and you guys are welcome to celebrate a great day of college football with us.

Nice stereotyping about LA.  I will do my best not to do the same about Fayetteville.  Thanks to all who gave tips and advice.  See you in September.

One thing to remember - If the game is on Sunday, buy your booze for the tailgate on Saturday.

Arkansas has a backassward law that forbids the sale of liquor and beer on Sundays.

That's most any Southern State.

Don't be a jackass.

I've been to Bama and to the UGA Dome and had no problems at either away game.  SEC fans are generally very hospitable except at LSU, but that's just because they're too drunk to behave responsibly.

Since you probably have a handle on Hotels and beer joints by now. The only other place I can tell you to go see is Bud Walton Arena I have been there many times but still enjoy seeing it every time I go to a game. It is just south of the football stadium. There is also a little matter of payback does no one remember at USC last year when some students took the Arkansas flag and did some "desecrating" of it. The cheerleaders had to get security to go retrieve it from the other side. Now I am not saying to do anything to any USC fans you might meet but I hope someone has thought of something creative to do to get even.

worse case scenario we make a trip to the Missouri state line and load up with more beer. Not to far

I forgot about the USC students doing that to our flag.  That angers me just thinking about it.   Yeah there's payback for that due

Dickson St is full of bars and nightlife..its the place you HAVE to go..
That is what I was going to say. Dickson is a must. Powerhouse Restaurant in Fayetteville is good too. Anyplace with a patio and live band and cold beer is good too. Razordrummer can probably tell you where is band is playing that weekend, they are very good.
Don't plan on going to the Powerhouse much longer.

We had dinner there last night. It was packed! Great steak and seafood....and beer and margaritas
