This position along with OT is where I think we have to have elite talent come in. Here's what we have:

Devin White:

Devwah Whaley:

http://247sports.com/Player/Devwah-Whaley-33409

Damarea Crockett

Cleo Floyd

Dedrick Mills

These are the ones that are either Arkansas kids, or have interest in us on 247. Great talent here, but I'm not sure we take more than 2.

Whaley and White are the two best prospects, and would be huge for our class. I just don't see any way we don't offer Crockett.

Dedrick Mills is interesting also. Not ranked, but has a high 4* offer list, does anyone know anything about him? 247 has him in our list of targets.

Who do you think we'll get as rbs? Who do you want to get as rbs?

For me, White is on the top of my list of wants for this class. Higher than Agim. Perfect replacement for Williams.

For the second spot, I want Whaley, but I think it'll be Crockett.

You've got the right two at the top but if we fail on Whaley, it's Crockett...

I think White will be a star.

he's made it clear that he sees himself as a RB....and CBB has made it clear that we're recruiting him as one....btw, I have said before that I would be more than happy with White and Crockett...another would be icing

He wants to play RB from what I've read.  I'm not sure we'd be so high on his list if we were recruiting him to play LB.  I just want him in cardinal and white, however we can get him.

Can you imagine Eddie Lacy running behind our monster line?  That's what I picture with Devin White.  Really, really hope we get him.  No more fails on 4th and one with that monster.  I think we may have to take Crockett just as an athlete and shoot for a 3rd back too.  I say that on Crockett because with the figures he put up in Texas, he might have a future as a hybrid safety/linebacker and could make a lot more money in the pros on defense than his potential at RB would seem.

NLRHog92

Rakeem Boyd could be a possibility as well. Has a lot of nice offers, but we've yet to give him one.

Possibly.  I *think* he'll probably be more of a slot guy, but he could definitely play RB.

Pretty much this.

If we get Hammond, I doubt we would have him in a roll that Jwill or Collins is in now. He seems more of an xfactor guy for screens (please please), shovel passes, end-arounds, etc

That's good information. If looking at options, linebacker does seem to have more potential in the NFL.

Holyfield might visit, but I'd still put him down as a long shot.

He's already visisted:

Notre Dame
Florida
Tennessee
Auburn
USCw
UGA
USCe
Louisville
Michigan St
Ohio St
Michigan

AU, UGA, and ND have gotten multiple visits, already.

Not saying it's impossible, but don't get your hopes up on this one.

Yep.  The hitter lasts longer and is worth more money than the hittee in this instance.  The evolution of huge men who can run sub 4.5 has killed the longevity and value of the RB spot.

The bottom line is that we are coming up on Williams' senior year, and Collins' junior year.   There are going to be many carries available in a RB-centric offense behind a great offensive line.

I will be surprised if we don't get very high quality RBs each of the next two classes.
Go Hogs!

With Day going down with an injury again, makes this even more important. I think we need to bring out all the stops for White IMO. Also on 247 it looks like we got bumped down to "cool" on whaley. Fudge.

The injury? Thursday at practice.

Whaley? No idea. I know we were "warm" at one point earlier, but 247 thinks we either are backing off or he's losing interest.

Whaley is looking elsewhere.

Also, Arkansas is probably 4th at best for White. Lots of ground to make up there as well.

Whether we look at "stars" or we look at "Rivals Rating Points" or whatever, maybe we should do a bit of "profiling" here and look at the typical RB and FB that Bielema tends to like and use in hi system. Now I haven't gone back to see what their 40 times were or what type of system they played in before college, but just in terms of averaged size, here is what Bielema tends to wind up with in his backfields. And these aren't recruits, but kids who actually played.

Wisconsin from 2006-2012
RB's: 5-11 3/4" 219 lbs.       FB's: 6-0 4/5" 237 lbs.

Since arrival at Arkansas 2013-Present
RB's: 5-11 3/4" 215 lbs.       FB's: 5-11 1/3" 243 lbs.

If we want to speculate about who he is going to go after for his system, using this as a guideline might be a good place to start. Now, would he take a kid who was clean cut, had good character, good grades, was 6-2 and 225 and ran a 4.3-40 at RB? I'm sure he would. I'm just giving you the parameters within which his previous RB's have seemed to have fallen.

This is a great way of looking at things. I wonder how (or if it does) evolve for being in the SEC. I think the staff realizes that we may need more speed and explosiveness. We got caught from behind alot last year. I think that's why we're pushing for Hammonds hard for this class.
