Shane Rector has committed to Utah State, according to a report from JucoJunction.com.

Rector was a three-star recruit and a borderline top 100 prospect in the Class of 2013, when he was a high school senior. The point guard ended up at Missouri, but he played just 23 games as a freshman before transferring out of the program. Rector wound up at Miami Dade College, spending a year in the Junior College ranks.

Mark Few continues to supplement the program through adding key transfers...

The Zags were fortunate enough earlier this offseason to get the news that both Przemek Karnowski and Kyle Wiljter would be returning for their senior seasons but the task for the staff is still to somehow replace them after they depart.  That task just got considerably easier as the Bulldogs were able to lure star Missouri transfer Johnathan Williams III.  Williams was also seriously considering Georgetown and SMU so this is a pretty tremendous get for the staff.

Williams will have to sit out this upcoming season but will have two years of eligibility in Spokane.  He will be expected to step in right away for the departing Wiltjer and Karnowski and should be up to the task.  We caught up with Williams III a couple weeks ago and he made it clear that Gonzaga's development of other bigs was a huge reason for his interest.

"It matters a lot to me," Williams said of the player development at Gonzaga. "Hopefully my final destination is the NBA and they do a great job of developing players that dominate in college and make it to the pros. My focus would be developing my all-around game. Working on my shooting and ball-handling and also finishing around the basket and getting stronger."

I figured it was inevitable that there'd be some news I missed involving the Missouri basketball program while taking that much time away. But as I boarded a plane on July 3, I didn't necessarily expect that news to be that rising sophomore swingman Montaque Gill-Caesar would be transferring away from Columbia after only one season in what was immediately seen as a big blow to the Tigers' chances of a turnaround from Kim Anderson's disastrous first season.



The news itself probably shouldn't have come as a shock, as even before July 3, there were reasons to wonder about Gill-Caesar's future in black and gold.

There were rumors he might be looking to transfer in the spring, not long after leading scorer and rebounder Johnathan Williams III opted to continue his playing career elsewhere in the wake of a 9-23 season. Though Gill-Caesar remained on the roster through the end of the semester, he did not return to Columbia with the rest of his teammates for the start of summer school because he was taking part in tryouts for the Canadian U19 national team.

Gill-Caesar did not end up on the final roster for that team, and back spasms that have lingered since he took a hard fall in the Tigers' lost (sic) to Illinois in December were cited as a primary reason, but he remained at home in Canada through the end of June. Anderson and assistant Rob Fulford both suggested at different times that he would be back in time for the start of the second session of summer school, though Fulford made several comments that hinted the Tigers might be preparing to move on without him.

Assuming Nikko, Jackson and Smith all honor their #Mizzou commitments and sign, Tigers would be one over the scholarship limit for 2016.

That means someone from #Mizzou's current roster is going to end up leaving. Who that is remains to be seen.

It's worth noting that the last time #Mizzou didn't lose at least 1 player to transfer at the end of a season was 2009 after its Elite 8 run

The announcement came the afternoon before the team's regular-season opener that he had requested to step away from the program to "concentrate on his academic pursuits."

Eager for more playing time, Missouri sophomore forward D'Angelo Allen has decided to seek it with another program.

Allen, a 6-foot-7 reserve from Kimball High in Dallas, did not appear in the Tigers' 84-69 loss Saturday against Texas A&M at Mizzou Arena. It was the sixth game this season he was a healthy scratch.

Allen also missed one game due to illness.

As a freshman, Allen appeared in 32 games, including eight starts, and averaged 17 minutes per contest, chipping in 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Allen's role had diminished as a sophomore. He hasn't played more than 10 minutes in any game since Jan. 27 at Kentucky and currently averages 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8 minutes per game.

Missouri self-imposed a postseason ban and scholarship reduction in 2015-16 last month and also announced it would forfeit one more scholarship in either 2016-17 or 2017-18.

The Tigers have nine scholarship players returning next season on the current roster and signed three incoming freshman in November.

Coupled with junior guard Wes Clark's dismissal earlier in the month, Allen's imminent departure frees up a scholarship for next season. It could be used to sign a player or to satisfy the self-imposed scholarship reduction.

Kim Anderson said sophomore guards Namon Wright and Tramaine Isabell plan to transfer.

"We appreciate what both Tramaine and Namon contributed during their time with the program and wish them the best as they continue to pursue their academic and athletic goals," Anderson said in a statement.

Wright was Missouri's third-leading scorer, averaging 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game this season. Tramaine averaged 6.2 points in 16.3 minutes per game.

For the record, the departures of Isabell and Wright don't necessarily hurt Missouri's APR.

NCAA does not deduct a retention point from APR if players transfer as long as they have at least a 2.6 GPA.

Hence Anderson's statement saying Missouri will honor transfer requests if they complete their academic requirements.

ramaine Isabell only spent two seasons at Missouri, and his time there was not a pleasant one.

In both seasons, Kim Anderson's Tigers finished last in the SEC, and after Isabell's sophomore year, he decided to transfer, ultimately electing to finish his education at Drexel.

That first tweet [available via article link, mentions Mizzou is now 100% Kim Anderson guys] is Isabell quoting a Missouri graduate assistant talking about the current version of Mizzou basketball — after Isabell and others had left. Both tweets were sent around halftime of the Florida game, when Mizzou went to the locker room down, 48-20.

Considering the Tigers are horrendous once again, it may be Isabell getting the last laugh, as it appears Anderson and his staff are not long for Columbia.

Within an hour of one another, two Missouri guards, K.J. Walton and Frankie Hughes, have announced their decisions to transfer from the program.
