I found an old shotgun that was wrapped in camo tape of my dads. I pulled it off and now there is the glue residue left on it.

Any ideas on how to clean it without messing up the bluing and the wood finish?

Any ideas would be appreciated.
I ain't saying you babysitting, but my kids are all over your couch.

There's links to remove cosomoline. (I know, not the same as glue residue.)
In the graphic arts field, we use acetone to remove tape residue.

Doesn't acetone screw up the finish?

Use brasso on the metal and olive oil on the wood. You can use gauze bandages that won't scratch.

I use acetone to remove glue/tape residue. I have no idea what it will do to the finish of a gun stock- ZERO.
What grade is the gun stock, 4?

If so, I do not recommend using acetone. In fact, I never recommended using acetone in the first place. I simply said that it removes tape residue. Wow.
Can you post a pic of the stock for us?

I'm tellin' you, zippo or ronson lighter fluid is a great light solvent that chews through tape adhesive.

Hogs have hit a wall at the wrong time of the season.  I will go on record now and say they may not even get out of their regional.  The hitting has been carrying them with a few good pitching outings but they just don't have the reliable pitching they need to get back to the CWS.

I used mayonnaise to get the glue off one of my older fishing rods that had glue from the tape on the handle.  Worked well.  The oil from the mayonnaise, is the key.  Had to put it on & let it sit up for about 30 min, then scrubbed it with a toothbrush.  Had to repeat this process several times, but it slowly worked & didn't harm the rod at all.

I'll try that if all else fails.

Acetone or MEK will cut right through it fast on all the metal surfaces, and won't hurt the bluing at all.  It will destroy any finish on the wood though.  To remove the residue from the stock, if any, use that stuff called "Goo-Gone" or "Goop".  It is a citrus based solvent that is usually dark yellow.  It won't work as fast as Acetone, but it won't hurt varnished or lacquered finishes either.
