Harding Football Selected Second in GAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Harding football received five of 12 first-place votes and landed second in the Great American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released by the conference office Tuesday.

Harding had 107 poll points, trailing only Southern Arkansas at 110. Southern Arkansas also had five first-place votes, and Henderson State had two. Henderson State was third in the poll with 106 points.

Harding was the 2016 GAC champion with a perfect 11-0 conference record. The Bisons won NCAA Division II Playoff games against Central Missouri and Sioux Falls before their season ended in the national quarterfinals against eventual national champion Northwest Missouri State.

Ouachita Baptist is fourth in the poll with 90 points, and Southeastern Oklahoma rounds out the top five at 82 points.

Harding began preseason practice Monday in preparation for its season opener Thursday, Aug. 31 at home against Henderson State. Kickoff at First Security Stadium is at 7 p.m.
