No holding calls, defense stepped up when they had to and the offense controlled the clock in the 2nd half.  Outstanding

Who would ever have thought a Marc Curles crew wouldn't call a penalty on the Hogs offense or defense in Knoxville.  Maybe Butch Jones is being targeted by the SEC head office?

Hogville prediction formula:

1.  Insert bad news prediction. A loss, a recruit going elsewhere, a coach leaving, etc.
2.  Tag "hope I'm wrong," on the end.
3a.  Enjoy a correct prediction.
3b.  Act like you're relieved you're wrong and celebrate with everyone else.

no holding calls was huge....as was Alex Collins and Rawleigh Williams

Absolutely. And seeing a random post on Hogville by a poster broke out into a game thread. Go figure.

We can see how much difference it makes eliminating mistakes and penalties. It's a comfortable win if we finish our drives.

Do you wanna get Rocked?

One downer tonight is the injury to Josh Williams.  Does anybody remember this many serious injuries this early in a season?

agreed to the 100th percentile and it wasn't because Butch Jones wasn't asking or a hold on every play...that guy rode the refs all night long..props to Bret for keeping his cool...refs don't like the same coach's face in their face after every play and Butch Jones sealed his own fate tonight

I was at this game. Not only was it a win, it was a HUGE win! I was with 3 Vols fans. They have been in bed for two hours. I am alone listening to freakin Elton John, drinking wine and dancing around my Vols son-in-laws living room for two freakin hours after they went to bed.

I've heard all the talk about him and wasn't entirely on the bandwagon quite yet but after tonight I don't know what I was waiting on; that boy can ball.

YES! to all 3. But it did occur to me—about every 10 minutes—that we didn't have a killer penalty called on us. That's what it's come to—actually expecting calls against us to come.

Also worth noting that halftime adjustments, primarily on defense, were apparent for the first time this year.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
