QuoteHayden, a rising 3-star running back in the 2017 class from St. George's Independent School (Collierville, Tenn.), has the Razorbacks among his favorite schools in large part because of how past players have excelled under Bielema at his position.

Bielema has had at least one running back rush for over 1,000 yards in each of his 10 seasons as a head coach at Wisconsin and Arkansas. He's the only FBS coach with that stat on his resume over the last decade.

"I haven't really watched the Arkansas running backs (Bielema) has had," Hayden told SEC Country's Corey Masisak at The Opening on Saturday afternoon.

"But at Wisconsin ... James White, Melvin Gordon, Montee Ball, I watched all those guys. I saw what he could do with them."

Hayden said he's expecting to set his commitment date soon. He currently lists Arkansas, Michigan and South Carolina as his top schools.

He emphasized a strong relationship with the coaching staff and the chance at early playing time are essential factors to his decision-making process, a good sign for the Razorbacks.

QuoteAkers is the only consensus five-star prospect in Mississippi. He is the No. 1 player in Mississippi, No. 2 running back in the country and the No. 14 overall player.

Gadsden City Titans were ejected from USA Football 7on7 National Championships in Hoover for an on-field confrontation during a game against Warren Easton (La.). Coach Matt Scott conceded his players left the bench area while two players fought, but complained that the rules were enforced unfairly and inconsistently.

QuoteWarren Easton coach Jerry Phillips Phillips [sic] provided a one-word answer when asked if any of his players left the bench: "No," he said.

Here's how Scott recounted Friday's situation: On a point-after play, a Warren Easton defender jammed a Gadsden City receiver at the line of scrimmage and knocked him to the ground. The two immediately began fighting in front of the Gadsden City bench.

That's when a number of Titans ran onto the field.  "We didn't leave the bench to get into a fight," Scott added. "We went to try to break it up."

Phillips Phillips saw things differently.

"One of their receivers got into it with my linebacker," Phillips Phillips said. "The receiver hit my linebacker four or five times before he actually retaliated. When he retaliated, (Gadsden City) ran off the sideline."

Once order was restored, game officials met with Scott and Phillips Phillips. Scott said officials suggested that the two players involved in the initial fight be ejected, but Phillips disagreed and said "we should follow the rules," meaning Gadsden City should be ejected from the tournament.

Phillips Phillips said none of his players left the bench area.

AL.com called tournament director Brandon Sheppard, who declined to discuss the situation.

With a national title on the line this week, Scott said he believes tournament officials wanted to make an example out of Gadsden City to avoid future altercations.

"It's hard not to feel like we're being targeted here," he said.

Scott conceded the tournament rules allow a team to be disqualified if players leave the bench area for a fight. Warren Easton was also aware of the rule.

"We actually talked about it that before the tournament," Phillips Phillips said. "When I saw it in the rulebook, I told it to the team. It just so happens this situation came about, and my guys reacted the way they were supposed to react."

Apparently the one place in the free world with no video capability available to review the incident.

QuoteMARRERO, La. — Corey Lambert grew up on John Ehret football.

Ehret lost its first nine games of the 2012 season and was down to about 40 players left on the roster. Much of the talent from Marrero was instead enrolled at Catholic League schools such as nearby Archbishop Shaw and fellow Jefferson Parish power Archbishop Rummel, while others attended budding West Bank programs such as Edna Karr and O. Perry Walker.

Lambert had his work cut out for them, realizing that he had to make sure that the talent in the city, stayed in the city.

Visits to playgrounds, middle schools and feeder schools resulted in long days and nights of convincing kids and their parents that John Ehret was a program on the rise. An 0-9 campaign to start his coaching tenure didn't exactly make his job easier, but the promise of molding young men, instilling discipline and lifelong preparation would eventually translate into success on the football field.

Since that 0-9 season in 2012, Lambert has compiled a 30-8 record, including two district championships and a share of a third, and an appearance in Louisiana's Class 5A title game last December. In the process, Ehret has produced a bevy of SEC talent, including Darrel Williams (LSU), Michael Divinity Jr. (LSU) and De'Jon Harris (Arkansas), who he considers pioneers of the program.

In doing so, Lambert has created a winning culture back in Marrero by getting alumni and other members of the community involved, which is why SEC coaches are constantly stopping by the high school and reaching out to the coach about his players.
