Smarty Jones & 3 yr. olds

Was it odd that only 5 horses showed up in the Smarty Jones? Does that mean the number of quality 3 year old colts is way down?

i dont think so. its an ungraded race in mid january. Southwest will be better.

I'm not sure what it means but that was an awful race. The winner got an inflated figure and has no chance going longer than 8 panels.

Combatant, training like he can go longer. Need to be closer at top of stretch in one mile race. I wish the Smarty Jones was a 1 turn mile.

Be interesting the number of 3 yr olds going short. Use to be hard to draw in, however several short maidens in condition book.
