Because it inherently would out them, and thereby terminate their utility and willingness to be sources, quite obviously.   There's a reason why no one names names, inside the media or outside of it.

I just told you where I got my information from.  And those sources said they got their information from staff.  Just seems like if your going to keep going in threads speaking for Portis and Qualls and telling everyone they've already made their decision, then you would have something to back that information up with, anybody can say they have a friend. Combining the couple of boards I post on, I'm telling you apparently Portis has a whole lot of friends with big mouths, and he's telling every friend different stories.

And the "friend of the friend" situation is so pointless, I don't understand the reason people do it.  If your not going to release your sources most people aren't going to just take your word for it, unless you have a history of having credible sources.  And I'm not sure I would compare a poster on Hogville to an employee of a media outlet.  We actually see them around the players and staff, and they actually get paid to know what's going on, so we actually have reason to believe they have "sources" rather than a random person on a message board claiming to have friends.

When they say 'staff', they're not naming their sources-- a point you are glossing over.

Media outlets are also generally leaning pretty heavily towards both being gone-- whether it be someone with UU level access and familiarity with the program, or Bo, or other sources-- and each of those, you have to weigh what you feel their individual credibility is worth, as well.  No different from anyone else.  Its not like these things exist in a vacuum.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I read a headline that said top 5. The actual article had 8 schools listed. I assumed the other was correct and didn't actually count the schools listed. Which I tried to explain.

But my question still remains. He communicated with RD about Arkansas. I consider that public acknowledgement.

Could he have just been throwing Arkansas a bone because he knows RD covers the Hogs? Absolutely. But that doesn't discount the fact it happened IMO.

If RD, who knows I respect his work, confirms that Davis said it in the context that it was written, then so be it. Perhaps RD talked to his coach or guardian. I'm just telling you that near ten articles across all networks and outlets have been written in the past 12 months or so, with direct quotes from Davis, and he hasn't once mentioned Arkansas. Within the past two weeks, a few articles have come out, and his coach mentioned us as one of the schools recruiting him most consistently. The next day an article came out and Davis talked about six schools that were standing out; Arkansas not one of them.

I know I've been debating with you, but I think we'll both agree that there's not a lot of value in what a kid says at this stage of recruitment. Although, again, it seems clear to me that Indiana and Arizona are most intriguing right now to him.

Thank you I just wanted an explanation. And you are right at this point its way to early take too much stock. As basketball is a fickle sport with limited Schollies a lot can change.

I understand not naming your sources. Who are the media outlets you're referring to, though?
