Isn't Dominique Reed a JR
Redshirt Junior

Played his Freshman season but redshirted the next season.  He was a Redshirt Sophomore this past season.

RussVegas Hawg

Edit: he's with the redshirt JR's also I didn't see it sorry

Had him as a freshman and a redshirt junior and left out O'Grady.  Been a long day.  Thanks for catching it.

The 2012 class was so atrocious.
A little harsh i think, jwill, Hatcher, and Sprinkle came from that class, about half of this years major defensive starters and contributors. This is the class most affected by cyclegate, and JLS, and there has been about a 50% attrition rate, Mckay, Holmes, Turner, Peters among others. I thought it was a very good class, but it has not panned out for depth, and we have lost a lot of good players from it. There were some very key pieces like Philon , Johnson, Collins among others. Still think Peters should have been all-sec LB, but either he couldn't get it together or there was relationship issues.

As a whole yes, what Petrino class isn't because of all the attrition that occurs, but the ones still here are mostly solid contributors.

2012 signees left
Cordale Boyd
Jared Collins           Likely Starter next season
Keon Hatcher          Likely Starter next season
Eric Hawkins
Taiwan Johnson       Starter last season could be this season as well
Brandon Lewis        Could be a starter but definitely in the rotation next season
Jeremy Sprinkle      Will be in the rotation with a possibility of starting next season
Jeremy Ward
Jonathan Williams   Likely Starter next season
JaMichael Winston   Likely Starter next season
Deatrich Wise Jr.     Likely Starter next season

JLS and cyclegate occured after 2012 class signed.

Notice he says your boy instead of "our coach". Very telling.

I'm not worried. If he recruits like he did here Louisville will fire him in about 5 years.

IBleedRazorbackRed

Are Loewen and voeltzke on scholarship? Also I read on a pay board that Jeremy ward is done with football and receiving a medical hardship waiver, like brignoni.

Loewen and Voelzke are on scholarship.  I think they both received scholarships before the start of the 2013 season.

I could see some truth to that Jeremy Ward situation.  His 2014 synopsis wasn't on his profile on the online roster.  Will keep him on here until official word.

Ward is still on scholarship (and a counter) for this current year.  Too early to know for next year, those decisions aren't made until after spring.

The_Iceman

We only have 13 Total Seniors? Should be good in 2016 as well.

Hog Fan...DOH!

20 seniors every year should work out nicely.

As good as we may be next year, the future looks even brighter. Good post.

I like to see what our 2017 team is looking like because it will be all Bielema players.  Here's what that team is looking like so far.  Put Dre Greenlaw at DB because that is where the coaching staff said he would start at, the lists are in alphabetical order, and signees are in italics:

The 2012 class was so atrocious.

2012
28th (10th SEC)
QB:
RB: JWill 4* (93)
     Baylor, Mich. St, Iowa, Mizz
     Our starting rb

      Donovan Roberts 3* (87)
      Mich. Indiana
       very similar to Evans
       transferred after coach change

       Nate Holmes 3* (88)
       just us
       almost a marshall clone
       transferred when marshall beat him

WR: Hatcher 4* (90)
      Okla State
       currently our best receiver

      D'Arthur Cowan 3* (88)
      Miss. St, So Miss

      Mekale McKay 3* (89)
      Cin, UCF, Lou, UK
      best freshman season since '08
      transfer after change

      Eric Hawkins 3* (86)
      TCU
speedy guy, but can't get on field

      Demetrius Wilson 3* (84)
       Tenn, Zona, ASU
      injuries hurt him here

TE: Jeremy Sprinkle 3* (88)
      just us
part time starter, likely full time
       next season

      Demetrius Dean 3* (89)
      recruited twice as I recall
      couldn't keep weight under control

OL: Jeremy Ward 4* (93)
      LSU, ole miss
      switched to dl, suffered w/injuries

       Cordayle Boyd 3* (86)
       Duke, Ark st

DE: Taiwan Johnson 4* (90)
      Neb, ASU, Mizz, Az, KSU
      starter at DT this year

      Deatrich Wise Jr 3* (88)
      Wake Forest
      Started a few games,
      probably most explosive DE returning
hurt this last year by injuries

      Austin Flynn 4* (90)
      Okla, ksu, Or. st, miami
      JUCO people were excited about
      kicked off after legal trouble

      Jamichael Winston 3* (86)
Mich. St, Clem, Miss st, NC, OM, Tenn
      current starter at de

      Brandon Lewis 3* (84)
      just us
       solid backup

DT: Darius Philon 3* (88)
       Bama, Aub, MSU, Miss St,
      declared draft as rs soph

LB: Otha Peters 4* (94)
       Tenn, TCU, Neb, aTm, Zona
had the same excitement as Ellis
       named to SEC all-freshman team
left due to not fitting in

       AJ Turner 4* (92)
       just us
       SEC all-freshman
       injuries/bad fit led to transfer

CB: Will Hines 3* (87)
       Mizz, ND, Bay, Ok. st
      solid starter for us
      transfer after injuries buried him
       in depth chart

      Jared Collins 3* (84)
      Just us
      part time starter

      Ray Buchanan Jr 3* (84)
      Cin, Lou, Miss st, Minn
      transfer after change

S: Defonta Lowe 3* (87)
    Ark St
    transfer after change

If that is considered atrocious as a recruiting class, then I'm guessing you think the one we just signed is best case scenario mediocre. Note, for all we know, half of these guys are going to go rob banks, get injured, transfer out after Bielema abruptly leaves the program, etc...

Good points made by all. From what's left of the 2012 class they are all solid contributors with 2 playmakers in Philon and Williams but we lost a whole lot of depth that class with attrition.

Jeremy will get a medical scholarship for 2015.  His back just isn't going to rehab enough to play again.

Can't edit it due to the time limit has expired but I'll be sure to do another one of these at the start of Spring ball with Jeremy Ward removed from the roster.
