Why worry about it?  Doesn't matter whom we get.  He'll be hailed as a fantastic hire no matter what.  We will love him.  LOVE him.  Trust me.  Relax.

If Jerry was as involved in this hire as speculated, I hope we call and ask for a blank annual check for DC salary. I'm sure he would pay.

Bielema said he was leaving Wisconsin so he could pay top salary for his assts, what happened.
Hog fan since 1960. So thankful for Sam Pittman.

Make a hard run at Steele.  Crap on Aubbie, while making us better.

He was under the impression that his assistants were leaving due to pay. Obviously was not the case.

After word got out about him, no good coaches would come to work for him.

No reason to pay high quality pay for low quality assistants.

And we wonder why we aren't top notch?  Our pay scale does not reflect top notch!

We're gonna throw $2M at a good DC. I hope for that kind of money, we get what we pay for.

Hogpharmer.  There will be no vote.  He rid us of hoginmemphis, otherwise known as gomerbullinmemphis, and no one else can match that accomplishment in our lifetime.

UW's nine assistant coaches make a combined total of $2,862,520. That total ranks ninth in the Big Ten among the 12 teams from which USA Today acquired salary data (Northwestern and Penn State are not required to publicly release employee contracts). UW was eighth in 2015.

The Badgers' total only surpasses that of Purdue, Rutgers and Indiana. Ohio State leads the Big Ten by paying its nine assistant coaches a total of $4.5 million. The Buckeyes are followed by Michigan ($4.3M), Nebraska ($3.7M), Iowa ($3.6M), Michigan State ($3.4M), Illinois ($3.2M), Minnesota ($2.9M) and Maryland ($2.9M).

At first, we ponied up.  I'm not sure what happened after that, but I suspect Bielema struggled to find good assistants willing to join him at Arkansas.

IMHO, a great DC would be well worth the money, regardless of cost.

If you want to compete with the big boys you have to pay like them for assistants.  Sure it will cost more but it will probably lead to more wins which equals more tickets sold.  Plus it decreases your chances of firing a coach every 4-5 years which saves money in buyouts.

Worst case, make Aubbie have to pony up another $500k - $600k per year.  Make them spend every last penny.
