Kevin Steele would be a funny hire that would speak a little to TBE
We should go after Steele.  Run up the price for both Tenner and Aubbie.  Don't overpay. lf we don't get him, then the others will be force to pay more.  If we get him, then great.  He can help us beat Gus.

Listen everyone I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do but we all should temper our expectations. This will keep us from hating who ever is chosen for the DC.

Give me a Todd Bowles or someone like him.

A sitting NFL head coach whose team has outperformed their pathetic roster's expectations, and also makes more than our current head coach is going to be our DC? Huh?

Pete Kwiatkowski

Last three years at Univ of Washington 2 top 10 total D and third was a 12th ranked total D

Makes 500k and lives in freaking Seattle.
Imagine what 1-1.5 mil would look like in Fayetteville compared to that

Is it fair to say that Venables is still in play?
Or should we move on to others immediately...

Todd Graham is no longer with Arizona State and I believe presently unemployed. He would be a great DC. He would fit the style of play.

I'd be good with Graham. He may get the SMU job though. We may have to wait on a few remaining HC jobs to be filled before we hire a DC.

I think Jim Leavitt is hoping to get the Oregon job, or K-State if Snyder retires. If not he may be available. He was Venables' mentor at K-State, so we have a connection through him.

Venables is obviously still in the running for Tennessee, and is coaching in the Playoffs.

Hence the someone like him right next to what you bolded genius.

He asked for my choice not what I think will really happen.

If you want real expectations Van Malone. Seems to fit the hires at the moment.

I heard Belichick is coming as DC and Saban as the CB and Safety coach

Charlie Strong
Randy Shannon

Strong isn't leaving a HC gig in Florida to be an assistant in Arkansas....

Shannon just took a DC job, and didn't like it here when he was ... according to some.
I'm only responsible for what I say, not how you perceive it.

Why didn't you just say Van Malone to start with?  Suggest name that won't happen. Gets mad when called out. Checks out

Venables, Hobby, or Holding in that order of preference.

Inwas suggesting someone from Todd Bowles coaching tree. Again you fail to see the or someone like him comment. Tired of folks who can't comprehend.

I would love for us to go after Charles Kelly at FSU. Great defense and has connections in FL to keep a recruiting pipeline open.

Kevin Steele was run out of Clemson after they gave up 70 points to WV in a Bowl game. I think Morris was there then.

WV kept running a trap play over and over with Tavon Austin at RB, Steele never did figure it out as Austin finished the game with like 250 yards.

Dabo axed him right after the game and brought Venables in.

Need to move on Leavitt now that Taggart is going to FSU.  He was the main reason for Colorado's success and they have back slid since he left.

He would have been a good one, but:

Dwight_K_Shrute

This is the guy we need.  Young hungry fast rising star that has a branded D that would mesh well with Morris's O and the youth on the staff.  Spent time at Mizzou under Pinkel.

Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

TN HOG

Possible options for DC;

Brent Venables, Clemson
John Chavis, Texas A&M
Todd Orlando, Houston
Bob Shoop, Tennessee
Todd Graham, x ASU HC
Pete Kwiatkowski, Washington
Lance Anderson, Stanford

On Recruiting players for his defense, "They have to have a nose for the football," Grinch said, "and we don't just want them to be able to run. They have to run and hit."

Chavis May be a safe hire. Chris Ball from Memphis seems to have aggressive defenses

Khan Noonien Singh- Shows no mercy to his opponent. Aggressive. Intelligent. Players love him. Also big about revenge. Would want payback to Gus and the lot.

Because he turned A&M around? ::) ::)

Yeah I don't know what happened there. He was great at LSU forever and he did turn A&M into a much better defense than when he got there but it wasn't anywhere close to being as dominant as his LSU days.

RazorPiggie

I think we will go younger with the hire.
