this kid has the "it" factor.  Most dynamic QB at Auburn since Cam Newton.  Though not as large physically as Newton (although Sean is a wirey 205 lbs) Sean has a unique understanding of the game and what it takes to win football games in the SEC.  Look for White to connect on his first touchdown pass of the season in only his third start of the season Saturday.  This guy has the steely glare and close set eyes of a WINNER!

Sean White not concerned with lack of touchdown passes http://www.oanow.com/sports/college/auburn/football/article_2e130578-7cf1-11e5-bdd8-6bf961213610.html ...

QuoteSean White has yet to throw a touchdown in his four games as Auburn's starting quarterback. The Tigers' redshirt sophomore isn't concerned with that fact —

He has completed 62-of-97 passes (63.9 percent) for 805 yards while helping Auburn's offense find some much-needed rhythm after drudging through the first month of the season with little consistency on that side of the ball.

"I think I've grown a lot just off experience, just off growing in the offense, chemistry with my teammates," White said. "I think I've grown a lot since (my first start)."

Since the opening drive against Mississippi State — the first drive of his collegiate career — when White was picked off near the goal line, the Boca Raton, Fla., native has gone 92 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, which is the fourth-best streak in Auburn history.

"I think you can see it, just the way he's managing the game," Malzahn said. "It's been, what, three games since we've had a turnover. He's protecting the football. He's doing a good job with running our offense. You can see that he understand the progressions in the passing game and he's just getting more and more comfortable each time out."

While White is growing more comfortable at quarterback, he has also gone 97 pass attempts without a touchdown — a streak that spans four starts and four overtime periods. Meanwhile, 244 other FBS players have thrown touchdown passes this season, including 119 players from Power 5 conferences. Among those 119, 28 players from the SEC have accounted for a touchdown pass this year — with Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell being one of them.

In fairness to White, the redshirt freshman has not been given too many opportunities to rack up the touchdowns.

I'm fairly impressed with Mr. White.

But you and Gus and Sean have a problem: he's not a running QB.  And Gus needs a true dual threat QB to win big.

So Gus is caught in a Catch 22 situation: he's got a solid thrower who can play the position in the SEC, but he's not going to win big with said QB.

So sad.

After running on 70 of its last 78 red-zone snaps, Auburn ran six passes on 11 red-zone snaps tonight http://www.oanow.com/sports/college/article_2a5b630a-8028-11e5-9e0b-0373ae3eea81.html ...

After scoring rushing TDs on 13 of last 16 red-zone trips, Auburn tried to get aggressive & pass it vs Rebels

QuoteAuburn tried to battle through injuries to its starting quarterback Sean White (knee) and running back Peyton Barber (undisclosed) in hopes of earning a signature SEC win.

After taking a 10-3 lead early in the second quarter, Auburn faced a fourth-and-2 from its own 49-yard line. Malzahn showed no hesitation in going for it, wanting to roll the dice and show that aggression that he spoke about after the game.

The gamble didn't pay off, as White's fourth-down pass to Marcus Davis was broken up by Ole Miss defensive back, and one-time Auburn commit, Tony Bridges — a play that swung the game in the Rebels' favor.

Ole Miss responded with a six-play drive that ended with a 25-yard touchdown run by Akeem Judd to tie the game at 10 with 3:59 to play in the half.

"As a coach you have a plan going into the game and you have to go with it," Malzahn said. "We didn't execute on fourth-and-(2) and it came back to bite us. If we would have executed the play, we would have felt a little better about it. But, that's the way it goes."

And that's the way it went for Auburn on Saturday as Ole Miss never trailed for the rest of the game. The Rebels took a 13-10 lead early in the second half and Auburn tied it up shortly thereafter on a 23-yard field goal from Daniel Carlson.

Field goals were the only thing Auburn could put on the board in the second half, however, as the Tigers floundered in the red zone on three straight second-half possessions thanks to out-of-the-ordinary playcalling...

"We wanted to be aggressive," Malzahn said. "We thought that we had to be aggressive."

Aggression didn't translate to touchdowns, though. White — who threw his first career touchdown pass to Louis in the first half — went 0-for-5 passing in the red zone and was sacked on the other designed pass play. Meanwhile, Auburn —

Sean White is 'tough as nails,' and should practice on injured knee this week: http://ow.ly/U8QAR

QuoteWhite injured his left knee in a 54-46 quadruple overtime loss at Arkansas on Oct. 24 and practiced only one day last week...

Lashlee said he is "optimistic" White will practice this week. The Tigers did not participate in drills Sunday and will take the day off Monday before returning to the practice fields Tuesday. Auburn travels to No. 25 Texas A&M for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday on the SEC Network.

Dr. James Andrews examined White's knee Saturday and "didn't think he was any worse off than before the game," Lashlee said.

... but the real problem for Auburn against Georgia was an ineffective passing game and confounding two-QB system http://www.oanow.com/sports/college/auburn/article_236c9574-8b2b-11e5-8213-e3729c7d392e.html ...

Quote

"We just didn't get it done," Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. "I think that's the best way to put it. We had a few opportunities but just didn't get it done."

That was especially true when it came to Auburn's offense. After making strides in the passing game in recent weeks, Auburn (5-5, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) sputtered in the passing game as a two-quarterback system proved both ineffective and inefficient against Georgia (7-3, 5-3).

Jeremy Johnson and Sean White combined to complete 15-of-27 passes for a total of 62 yards and one interception — with four completions of 1 yard and no pass going for more than 15 yards. It was the fewest passing yards by a Malzahn offense since Nov. 9, 2013 against Tennessee, when Auburn passed for just 35 yards on seven attempts.

The difference, of course, was that against Tennessee, the limited passing was by design and in no way hindered the offense in a 55-23 win. That wasn't at all the case against Georgia on Saturday.

Auburn averaged just 2.4 yards per pass attempt against Georgia, which marked the lowest yards-per-pass attempt ever by a Malzahn-coached offense. In 2011 against Alabama, Auburn averaged just 3.1 yards per pass attempt, while in 2006 Arkansas averaged just 3.1 yards per attempt against LSU.

"I'm not really sure," White said of the team's problems in the passing game. "I'm sure we could have executed better. They played good defense."

For the second straight week, Johnson got the start at quarterback.

.@MGMAdvertiser feature: Auburn faces troubling QB conundrum: Johnson or White - http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/sports/college/auburn/2015/11/16/auburn-faces-quarterback-conundrum/75856702/ ...

QuoteAccording to Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn, Auburn went into its 10th game of the 2015 season with a plan to play both quarterbacks on his depth chart. Following a dismal offensive effort in its 20-13 loss to Georgia Saturday, the option now appears to be deciding between an ineffective Jeremy Johnson and an injured Sean White.

Both quarterbacks combined for the second-lowest passing output by an Auburn team under Malzhan, but since neither player clearly took the firm hold on the job, Auburn's head coach said both signal callers would be in the game plan for a 3 p.m. contest against Idaho on Saturday.

"Both guys played today, and we will practice hard and get them ready for next week," Malzahn said in a matter of fact manner after the loss Saturday.

White also confirmed after the game Saturday that he was informed after pregame warmups that he would get playing time at some point against Georgia.

"I was comfortable enough to go out there and play," White said. "I wish I could have played better for my team and have more success, but I didn't. It just didn't happen."

Auburn QB Sean White's knee not as healthy as first believed http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2015/11/auburn_qb_sean_whites_knee_not_healthy.html ...

QuoteGus Malzahn was wrong.

Auburn quarterback Sean White's left knee is still injured, and it might be worse than previously thought, the Auburn coach admitted Tuesday.

"We thought he was a little healthier than he was, but we've got to get him healthy before he gets back on the field," Malzahn said.

White was 1 of 5 passing for 1 yard in one of the worst combined passing performances (62 yards) in Malzahn's 10-year tenure as a coordinator or head coach.

Is Auburn's 2016 starting quarterback currently on campus? http://www.oanow.com/sports/college/auburn/football/article_2e48a06a-8ef9-11e5-b079-4ff0cb5806a0.html ...

QuoteRhett Lashlee and Gus Malzahn were each asked the same question this week —

Do either of the Auburn coaches believe the team's 2016 starting quarterback is currently enrolled at Auburn?
While Malzahn deflected the question...

Things quickly went awry for Johnson, who three six interceptions compared to just five touchdowns in his first three games before being benched in favor of White.
White started the next five games at quarterback and showed improvement in the offense before sustaining a knee injury late against Arkansas. He split time with Johnson against Ole Miss and Georgia, but did not play effectively or look completely healthy.
"I think from Sean's side of things, he was getting a lot better and then the injuries have hit him," Lashlee said.

How is Alabama prepping without knowing Auburn's starting quarterback? http://s.al.com/sMH5Szh

QuoteNo class this week has allowed Reggie Ragland to invest more time into watching film of Auburn.

Ragland's plan heading into the week was to watch film of one the Tigers' quarterbacks one day and to look at tape of the other quarterback the next.

"It's easier to do that when you don't got class and other stuff to worry about," Ragland, Alabama's star senior inside linebacker, said Monday, "so it should be helpful."

Regardless which quarterback starts, the Tide seems likely to have a similar defensive approach.

"Both of those guys do pretty much the same thing," outside linebacker Ryan Anderson said. "Sean White, he can run and he can make the throws. Jeremy Johnson, he can run and he can throw. Just regular prep I guess."

Johnson threw six interceptions in Auburn's first three games before being benched.

White threw for 254 yards or more in each of his last three starts.

QuoteAuburn struggled to find rhythm with its quarterbacks, Jeremy Johnson and Sean White, and totaled just 2,106 passing yards on the season with only 10 touchdowns (tied for 116th in the country) and nine interceptions.
