QuoteDavis' career was cut short by knee injuries, playing only seven seasons for the Denver Broncos, but he made them count. The two-time Offensive Player of the Year famously ran for 2,008 yards during a 1998 MVP campaign, en route to his second Super Bowl championship. Davis was a member of the 1990s NFL All-Decade Team despite only having four full years, during which he amassed most of his 7,607 yards rushing and 60 touchdowns.

QuoteSEC Network analyst and former NFL player joined The Paul Finebaum Show to speak about his experiences:

McFarland was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they won Super Bowl XXXVII, and he was part of the Indianapolis Colts when they won Super Bowl XLI.

"It's one of the ... biggest moments you'll ever be in," McFarland told Finebaum. "There's such a rush of adrenaline before the game. There's such a rush of adrenaline after the game, especially when you win. It's one of those moments, Paul, you really don't appreciate until two or three days later, sometimes a couple weeks (later), because everything happens so fast. For me, we won in Miami with Indy on a Sunday night. Paul, I didn't lay my head down to take a full night's rest until Tuesday."

McFarland went on to tell an interesting story about how he came back to Tampa after being traded to the Colts, and he ran into then-Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden. McFarland said he enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing his former coach after earning a Super Bowl title with Indianapolis.

Now they work for the same company again.

QuoteWuerffel led the Gators to a national championship and also won a Heisman Trophy at Florida while Spurrier was the head coach.

He had Tebow at No. 2 and Shane Matthews at No. 3.

"Danny Wuerffel is the best of all time," Spurrier said. "What Danny did was the best. Tim and Shane, Tim is probably No. 2 and Shane Matthews is definitely the third best or he's in the top-3. I'll put those in the top 3 is probably the best way to say it."

QuoteWillis was part of the mass exodus of talent in San Francisco over the last few years. The former All-Pro linebacker retired unexpectedly at 30 years old while he was still one of the premier defenders in the game.

With sudden retirements, there are always eventual rumblings of a possible return. Yet, Willis insists that he's good with retired life.

"That inclination (to play) only comes for a split second," Willis said, per Daniel Brown of The Mercury News. "And then it's, 'Nope, nope, I'm cool."'

Willis gets his competitive juices flowing with a new hobby that he's picked up. The seven-time Pro Bowler works out with mixed martial artists from time to time.

QuoteFormer Vanderbilt standout running back Zac Stacy wasn't able to find his way back onto a field in 2016 after suffering a gruesome ankle injury in 2015 that ended his season.

Stacy was among the greatest running backs in Commodores history. He held the career rushing record with 3,141 yards and single season rushing record with 1,193 yards in 2011 before Ralph Webb broke both in 2016. Stacy still holds the Vanderbilt career touchdowns record with 30 and the single-season touchdown record with 14 in 2011.

QuoteDeion Jones left Baton Rouge following the 2015 season and was drafted in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons.

Per Pro Football Focus' measurements, no rookie linebacker in the NFL was better than Jones in 2016:

QuoteDespite a lack of talent outside of Jeffery, Chicago believes $17 million is too big of a price tag.

Jeffery's last two seasons have been ones to forget. The receiver's missed 11 games due to injuries and PED suspension. He's barely clipped 800 receiving yards the past two years.

The 27-year-old is talented enough to receive plenty of attention on the open market. If Jeffery stays on the field and is consistent he's still a viable No. 1 wideout.

QuoteGreg Hardy is having a hard time finding his way back onto a football field. After domestic violence accusations and a recent drug arrest, the NFL and CFL want no part of the former star and now he's looking for work anywhere he can get it.

Most recently, Hardy has appealed to the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, an Indoor Football League team. And, while he's more than talented enough, his past caused the Screaming Eagles to put his potential signing to a fan vote. On Thursday, the Screaming Eagles revealed he'd lost the vote.

On the team's official website, a statement providing information on Hardy's prior transgressions was made available to fans before the vote. Polling closed at 10 p.m. PT on Wednesday night and the tally showed the voting deadlocked at 50-50.

The site didn't provide more intricate details on the voting numbers until revealing the results the following day. According to the team website, the no vote carried a 50.1 percent majority and now Hardy won't be receiving a contract offer.

QuoteA knee surgery last year disrupted the nerve that controls Floyd's quadriceps, according to USA Today's Tom Pelissero. Almost six months after the surgery, the nerve still won't fire. If the nerve doesn't begin to work, it could put mean the end of his career.

Floyd played one game last season for the Minnesota Vikings. He had knee surgery in September, but Minnesota waited until December to place him on injured reserve.

The Vikings selected Floyd with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Quoteake out the games in which AJ McCarron was Saban's starting quarterback, and the coach's career winning percentage dips to .752.

While at Alabama, McCarron compiled a 36-4 record as the Crimson Tide's quarterback. Alabama won the 2011 and 2012 BCS national championships with McCarron as its signal-caller. Along the way, he became the Tide's career leader in passing yards, touchdown passes and total offense.

That success is one of the reasons that the Alabama coach has a hard time understanding why McCarron isn't a starting quarterback in the NFL.

When the Cincinnati Bengals start their offseason program on April 17, McCarron will be looking at his third year as the backup to Andy Dalton.

Saban appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday and was asked about McCarron's pro career.

"I loved AJ," Saban said. "I always thought he did a great job. He's a football junkie. He really prepares for the game, understands the game well. He's got a confidence about him that some people might mistake for a little bit of cockiness, but when you get to know him, you know that's not the case. I think, and I always thought, that I could not believe he did not get drafted higher than he got drafted relative to the success that he had here in terms of winning. If you just look at how much we won when he was the quarterback, how many championships we won and did it at an early age. And every time he's had an opportunity to play with the Bengals, he's, to me, proven that he's absolutely a starter.

"So I think he's one of the guys that probably is a coveted backup player that most people in the league should think, 'This guy could be a starter for us,' and Cincinnati's probably in a good position because they have him under contract without a big salary-cap hit. But that's going to change soon, and that may be a great benefit for him."

QuoteRomo will move on, joining CBS as their top analyst and pairing with Jim Nantz for Thursday Night Football games and CBS' top game on Sundays. And Prescott will hope to build off of his incredible rookie season and possibly even do one thing that Romo never could, leading the Cowboys to a Super Bowl.

QuoteManning is involved in a lawsuit that alleges he knowingly passed off fake game-used memorabilia to satisfy a contract. Manning allegedly asked a Giants equipment manager in an email for helmets that could be passed off as game-used items to satisfy the requirement.

The 3 memorabilia collectors suing the Giants, Manning and others filed emails in a New Jersey court that allegedly support their view.

QuoteGo ahead, Bob," Rovell said on the show. "Ask me the question I can't answer right off the top. This is something with athletes that they always want the cash. Why would they do any memorabilia deal, a guy like Eli Manning? Can't give you that answer. Why do baseball players who make millions of dollars do shoe deals for $20,000? I can't tell you that, but he did this deal. This was part of a deal ... and essentially he had to provide game-used items per the terms of the contract."
