The need for linebackers at LSU was just addressed on our site shortly ago, only for the Tigers to take a huge step in filling that need with a commitment from Texas 4-star linebacker Erick Fowler, one of the prospects high on its recruiting board.

Fowler took a trip to LSU last month, and left giving rave reviews of his visit. The 6-1, 235-pounder was being courted heavily by Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, TCU and many others, but the Tigers ability to sell him on early playing time and helping make the transition to a multiple front defense was too much for the pass-rushing specialist to resist. Fowler becomes commitment no. 15 for the Tigers, and the first true linebacker in the class.

Bama added its 15th commitment and second tight end to the 2016 recruiting class when Cartersville, Ga., standout Miller Forristall gave the Crimson Tide staff a verbal pledge.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Forristall is a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite. Forristall's commitment moves Alabama to No. 5 in the 247Sports composite team rankings.

He joins Missouri standout Brendan Scales as Alabama's tight end commitments in this class.

LSU picked up its second commitment from a Texas prospect in a just over a 12-hour span Wednesday night when one of the top safeties in the country picked the Tigers in North Shore's Eric Monroe.

Monroe made the announcement on his Twitter.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Monroe is considered a consensus four-star prospect. 247Sports has Monroe as the No. 15 overall player in the country and the top-rated safety while Rivals rates Monroe as the No. 41 overall prospect in the country and the No. 4 safety. ESPN has him as the No. 83 overall player and the No. 3 safety.

When LSU head football coach Les Miles announced Kevin Steele and Ed Orgeron as new assistants to his staff last winter, the moves were met with rave reviews from the media.

Some suggested Miles had even put together a recruiting dream team together.

Six months later, LSU is ranked as the nation's top college football recruiting class by 247sports.

Hewitt-Trussville running back Jarrion Street committed to Ole Miss while on a visit to the school, he announced on Twitter Saturday afternoon.

Street is a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite. He also had offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Iowa State, Memphis and Missouri.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Street rushed for 1,168 and 14 touchdowns last year. He also caught 23 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns in Josh Floyd's first year as the Hewitt-Trussville head coach.

Brothers Xavian Marks and Torin Marks will join the Alabama football program, their father Clyde told AL.com on Tuesday.

Clyde Marks said that Xavian, a 5-foot-8, 155-pound running back from Rosenberg, Texas, will be on football scholarship and will have a chance to run track. Torin, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound defensive back and wide receiver, will be a walk-on.

Both graduated this year from George Ranch High School and both were three-star recruits. Torin is a year older as Xavian had a late birthday for his class.

"He's coming on a scholarship and as of right now, it's football, but I'm sure he probably will run track," Clyde said of Xavian. "He's a 10.3 (second) 100 (meter dash) kid. If they give him the opportunity to run, he probably will run track also."

Both players were committed to New Mexico State in January, but did not sign. Xavian signed with Alabama on Tuesday, Clyde Marks said...

OXFORD -- Ole Miss has certainly addressed its need at running back in the 2016 class.

Three-star D'Vaughn Pennamon announced his decision to commit to the Rebels via Twitter on Tuesday, which gives the school at least three running back commitments.

Pennamon joins Dandy Dozen selection Justin Connor and three-star Jarrion Street. Four-star running back Denzel Mitchell reportedly decommitted from Ole Miss on Sunday, but quickly deleted his tweet.

Wilson says #LSU can sign 26 - not 25 - prospects for 2016. Wilson says other schools coming after LSU's commits. "It's just the beginning."

Wilson on filling final 9 spots in #LSU's 2016 class: defensive ends, "a couple" of LBs, RB and "a couple" of receivers.

Morganton, N.C., running back B.J. Emmons gave Alabama its first running back commitment of the 2016 class when he made his pledge public on Monday.

Emmons actually committed last week on a visit, but kept it quiet for a few days. Emmons, a one-time Georgia commit, chose Alabama over Tennessee and others in the end.

The 5-foot-10, 230-pound Emmons is a four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 110 overall player and No. 3 running back in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Brandon Allen: "B.J. is a tremendous running back and a tremendous athlete, a very powerful runner that has good, quality speed for his size. I certainly think that he's the type of tailback that Coach (Nick) Saban has always tried to fit in his system because they're a downhill running offense and very powerful, inside zone schemes, run a lot of gap schemes as well. I think B.J. will fit in well with that aspect and I tell people that B.J.'s hidden attributes are that he has tremendous hands and can run great routes and catch the ball out of the backfield. I think they're getting an all-around back."

The aura that enveloped Ronald Walker oozed confidence.

You would have thought the Copiah-Lincoln defensive back just recorded a record-breaking time in the 40-yard dash, but he had yet to go through testing at Mississippi State's Big Dawg Camp.

Walker strolled into the [Rafael] Palmeiro Center last Friday afternoon wearing a sleeveless gray hoodie, a gold chain, blacked out sunglasses and a backwards flat brim hat.

It's safe to say that the swagger he was known for at Callaway hasn't gone anywhere.

"Everybody (at Co-Lin) calls me 'Swag,'" Walker said. "It's real country down there. When they see me and see what I have on they get real excited and take pictures."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder is on his second go-around with the recruiting process. As a high school senior two years ago, Walker was one of four players from Callaway to commit to Ole Miss along with offensive guard Rod Taylor, defensive tackle Breeland Speaks and wide receiver Dayall Harris.

Unlike his teammates, Walker never made it to Oxford...
