so many misses . A bunch of bigtime teams can't find a decent kicker . Arkansas included . It cost Tennessee the win and likely will South Carolina too. All across the nation it's been bad

Kentucky's kicker made everything.... I agree that's the exception this year though.

I've noticed it as well.

Freshman USC kicker McGrath hit a 31 yarder to tie the game and send into overtime and then hit 43 yarder to win the game...and this was after missing one earlier in the game!!

If Texas kicker could have kicked through the end zone on his last kick, Texas might well have won that game. Started at 35 instead of the 20.

could it be that kicking an odd shaped ball through a pretty narrow target from 30, 40, 50 yards is pretty hard? Michigan's kicker made 5 fg's Sat, but I saw many misses from close and far distances as well.

I have 10 to 12 points to make per game.

The answer is to watch more football, because the nadir of college kicking, statistically, is about 5 years in the rear view mirror.

Right now, kickers are converting attempts at slightly above historic averages.      The other factor at play is the old squeaky wheel theory--  you notice the mistakes, not the makes, and form your perception of kicking around them,  rather than the successes.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

He was a walk on as well.

Regarding Tennessee, missing 47 and 51 yarders isn't something to gnash your teeth about (like, uh, missing 20 and 23 yarders.  cough cough)

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

It was pretty bad the past weekend.

Except it wasn't.   About a fourth of FBS college football teams have yet to miss a FG or extra point. More than half have missed one or fewer.

Well, heck.  You've ruined a perfectly good thread.  Thanks a lot.
