A-State AD Terry Mohajir said in  today's Jonesboro Sun the two schools are in talks to reschedule the game at a future date.

The discussions according to Mojahar "have not produced anything of significant value", and "we are trying to get our schedules matched up".

Miami does appear to be willing to find a date to accommodate both schools, according to Mohajir, and A-State wants a date in the early 20's if at all possible. Miami has given some dates that Mohajir said are " a little too far out". Mojahir said A-State does no have any interest in taking it out past 2025.

At this point Mohjair said A-Stat has not requested payment of the $650,000 Liquidation fee of  that was payable on or before February 15th, the year following the game, according to the contract.

Mohajir said scheduling a money game at Miami is a possibility, but that it should  not be considered a 2-1, because A-State does not do 2-1. The game under discussion is for the return game after A-State played at Miami in 2014, and nothing else.

Forget it TMo. Just take the buyout money and be done with it. Piss on the Canes coming to Jonesboro.

Don't take the money. Get the game. It's a big deal. Getting a home-home with a p5 school is a big deal for any sunbelt team.

Maybe, but I got the feeling that Miami has no intention of going to Jonesboro and is really just going through the motions here so that they can say they "tried" to work it out. They will keep making offers that ASU just won't find acceptable for scheduling the makeup, including likely wanting another HOME game in Miami to be played first before coming to Jonesboro. Basically trying to change the original deal into a 2-1. TMo says that is not going to happen.

JMO but it is best to save the time and hassle and just take the buyout and move on.

I don't follow it closely, so that may be accurate. But taking a game way off is better than the money. 2026 is a long way off but is worth it to say you have a home-home with Miami. Also, they will likely suck again by 2026!

This is a big step in becoming "the Boise state of the south."

Bottom line is compare how much ASU clears with the buyout to what they would have cleared by playing the game. AFTER paying Miami for them to come to Jonesboro and all other related expenses for the game.

This isn't a money call. It's about prestige. There is a reason ar put Texas back to 2022(or whenever it is) rather than take the payout.

There has also been a change in scheduling at Miami since Richt got there.  He doesn't want the Sun belt road games and the Toledo game this year will probably be the last one.  Richt wants the 7 home games and a big neutral site game.  See LSU in 2018 in Dallas. Florida in 2019 in Orlando and Bama in 2021 in Atlanta.
