If this guy was an LSU fan he wouldn't remember Paul Skenes because he was only there one year.

Charlotte Hornets' Brandon Miller places third in NBA Rookie of the Year voting

By Mark Inabinett |

QuoteHornets forward Brandon Miller finished third in the voting for the KIA NBA Rookie of the Year Award for the 2023-24 season.

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama won the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy as the NBA's Rookie of the Year for the 2023-24 season by unanimous vote of the 99 sportswriters and broadcasters

Hornets chose Miller from Alabama with the second selection in the 2023 NBA Draft after the Spurs made Wembanyama the No. 1 pick. Holmgren entered the NBA as the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft, but he missed the entire 2022-23 season because of a foot injury.

In 74 games, Miller averaged 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a rookie. His 184 3-point baskets rank as the fourth-most for a first-year player in NBA history.

One player from an Alabama high school or college has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. Former Brantley High School and Auburn standout Chuck Person won the 1986-87 award as he averaged 18.8 points per game as a forward for the Indiana Pacers.

Former Carver-Dothan star Artis Gilmore won the 1971-72 ABA Rookie of the Year Award as the Kentucky Colonels' center. He averaged 23.8 points and led the ABA with 17.8 rebounds per game in his first season.

Quote from: Jayleigh81 on Today at 08:43:22 amI'm also wondering on this one since I've seen a lot of Kentucky comments on wanting this guy hardcore. I'm not saying we need a second Richmond on the team just to beat Kentucky from getting him, but I wouldn't be opposed to having a really talented player on our team that also continues the trend of being one that Kentucky really wanted.
We need another lead guard and kadary richmond is best available. Lamding richmod and Pryor makes us real deal natty contenders. Probaly be top 5 rated pre season.

Quote from: TheGrove68 on Today at 03:42:13 amSo your using common opponent's as the Metric to gauge the Mental Effort and Focus of two teams across various weeks and situations? Injury reports, weather, location of the game, etc. are not factored in your numbers. That is not a very quantifiable data point by any measure. Sure using those comparisons can get you a surface talent and production metric of the talent measurable of both teams and that can give a idea of what team is better. But once you delve into the Mental aspect your numbers are not gonna hold up.

In fact across a 10 year span you would assume if this is true about the Hogs and they are the more physically  talented and the Ark. team was hardened in the rigors of SECW that the Hogs would have won more games vs Mizzou do to the overall advantage in Mental sharpness and toughness they had achieved competing in the West and having a talent advantage to boot. To Fall flat continually and not play up to their Mental and Physical potential seems like a near statistical impossibility over a decade.

the common opponents is one metric out of many. And arguably, it's judging more the physical than the mental and thus providing clues about the mental as a result. If you beat somebody in a race by 2 seconds, and I lose to them by 1 second. Then you beat somebody by 3 seconds and I only beat them by 1 second, without knowing anything else, who would you expect to win in a race b/w just you and me? Obviously you. But, if I come out and beat you in a race, there'd be some sort of questions as to why. Maybe you lack the stamina and I have more. Maybe you pushed yourself harder against the first two guys and I saved my energy to beat you, etc...

Other metrics indicating that Mizzou plays harders/hogs play softer in this game is the recruiting rankings, where the hogs have not merely ranked ahead of Mizzou, but typically far enough ahead that there is a noticeable difference. This has, until this year, borne itself out in the NFL draft picks as well.

So, to sum that up, we've recruited better players to our team, played better against common opponents, and completed that pipeline by producing more NFL draft picks. Yet, we consistently lose.

Also, not sure you come to that last conclusion though. The argument here is that the hogs get softened by the rigors of the SEC-w, not hardened, and that we have LACKED the mental sharpness/toughness, not had the overall advantage.

Quote from: bennyl08 on Today at 09:21:40 amSMU plays 2-3 per year, so in 4 years time, they've played as many if not more P5 teams than we did.

You keep saying they aren't supposed to beat a P5 team, but in that same breath are absolutely adamant that they are unquestionably, undebatably, a better team than us. Those are two mutually exclusive statements. It's like saying a junior high football team is better than a HS varsity football team because they have a better record against junior high teams...

Then why did he transfer to SMU?

I'd loooooove to hear your 'logic' on this one. I'll absolutely agree that they aren't the SOLE measure of a good or bad team, and I've never claimed otherwise. But here, you are saying that they aren't even 'a' measure. So what, your measure is just how chummy the players are, with no accounting for athleticism?

Either the word 'and' in your first sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting, or you straight up lying. They are not getting any starters from Ohio St or Michigan. That Michigan player is a RsSr TE who has 2 catches for 15 yards in his career and he's not a glorified TE either. Sure, they got a starter from Miami, a team that has a losing record under Critobal, a factor you seem to care a lot about.

We have 3 transfer 4* players to SMU's one. That BYU player you want to talk down for coming from community college is rated higher by 247 (who knows more than both you and me) than 79% of SMU's transfers and he barely rounds our the bottom of our top third.

But again, don't take my word.

https://247sports.com/Season/2024-Football/OverallTeamRankings/

247 ranks their class as 55th and us 28th. If you only look at the transfer rankings, we are 25th and SMU is still behind us at 30th.

Again, Facts don't care about your feelings.

1. Say huh? We play 9 P4 teams a season they play 2-3 4 years we play 36 they play 8-12 again dishonesty. Lashlee is just starting his 3rd season so his team has played 4. They are a better team Arkansas wouldn't have beaten them last year and wouldn't if they played this year.

2. Idk why don't you ask him.

3. Reading comprehension I said they were getting starters from the P5 that's a fact didn't say what team or how many.  Another fact we got 1 starter from the P5 Jackson from Utah the rest were back ups. Even our starting Qb was a backup at Boise.
