If we can just get Diggs, White, and Wilmsneyer hitting close to what they did last year, we really would have a good (maybe not great) offense. You have to think that at some point the law of averages will kick in and move these guys back to where they should be - or at least close to it.

Quote from: razorhog48 on Today at 09:36:31 pmIf he doesn't make NCAA which I seriously doubt he should be let go immediately after this next season.  I have been a season ticket holder for 6 years but I will not attend another game until Mr. Neighbors is let go!  I seriously doubt that I am the only girls basketball fan who feels this way.

He should be fired even if he lucks into making the NCAAT. You know they'd lose in the 1st round again and Mike would just be happy they got to experience it.

Quote from: RazorSax on Today at 09:25:13 pmKeep on pumping that sunshine. Pope has had two weeks. Every big name that was supposedly interested has removed Kentucky from consideration and landed somewhere else. It's literally OKAY to come to terms with the obvious - Kentucky went from a HoF coach to a completely unproven one. The recruiting won't be anywhere near the high profile status it's had for years, and the program is probably going to be in rough shape for a couple of years. Do I think Pope could be reasonably successful? Yes. Do I think he gets the time necessary to do so? Probably not. Will he bring deep tourney runs and sniff a championship? No. There were so many other guys that deserved a shot, and the hire seemed so quick and panicky. He honestly has a mountain to climb already. Kentucky fans can keep dissing the guys hopping from Kentucky to Arkansas, but if they were recommitting to Kentucky, they would be slobbering over them. The narrative is tiring, and the reality is apparent to everyone outside of Lexington.

The pick seemed rushed to you, and it seemed rush to a lot of the fans too. I was not happy that first night, I didn't understand. But once I had time to stop, breathe, take a look at things as most of our fans did... we realized he was going to bring a lot of the things we were looking for in a coach. Will he get the time he needs to be successful, who knows with our fans. But I do not think he was a bad hire. And what you don't seem to understand is that Kentucky fans were sick of the top recruiting classes that were only worried about the NBA. We didn't want to just be an NBA developmental team without reaping any of the actual benefits for that. Its nice to have top recruiting classes sure, but those players all leave after one year to go to the NBA to have success while achieving nothing at your school. We weren't winning the SEC regular season, we weren't winning the SEC tournament, and we were losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament. We needed change and we got what we wanted. Now we get to see how it turns out, you don't know how its going to turn out either.

But please, tell me who do you think Kentucky should have hired? Please share your picks for coach!

Quote from: Hogeye_Pierce on Today at 09:23:22 pmSerious question though. Whose idea was it to give Cal that lifetime contract with a $30 million buyout? KY owes us a thank you on that one because THAT was dumb.

Man trust me, so many thank yous have gone your way! We are actually rooting for you guys, we like Arkansas fans in all seriousness. Its nice when other fans in the SEC love basketball like we do. We don't hate Cal, we needed a change, he needed a change and you guys got us out of a mess. So we love you guys!  lol

As for the contract thing, it was after the first 10 years where he had been successful. UCLA came knocking and the fans didn't want to lose him, so the AD gave in to that contract. A lot of people were unhappy with it, let me tell ya. But when you are winning people overlook things, but a lot of people thought it was a bad idea. Thing about HOF coaches though, they can negotiate what they want when they have the leverage.

Quote from: hogfan870 on Today at 05:26:34 pmI've got to think DVH is seeing something in batting practice that he likes, because sitting in my chair the Hedrick DH is a bit of a head scratcher. Here's hoping he has a great night.

Calling myself out here.

I scratch my head and DVH wins baseball games. That's why he is DVH, and I'm not. Clearly a great decision to DH Helfrick.

Quote from: ChitownHawg on Today at 08:54:30 pmAnd during those years KY will learn that your AD is an idiot and Pope was your Pelphrey hire.

By then we will have had Muss' successes stacked on top of Cal's. The coach to take Cal's place when he rides off into the sunset will be another winning coach.

Or we'll hire Pope the 2nd.
