Both need to pitch ahead, they can't recover from getting behind in the count like smith and some others can. High 80 to low 90 fastballs will get hard contact, especially when the count forces you to throw it for a strike. That is an observation of SEC play. His fastball seems to be finishing higher and higher. Probably not a bad idea to let Wood have a start or two and let Molina come in for long relief. Maybe work himself back into his groove.
