You can only develop so much.  At some point,  natural talent has to take over.  If it isn't there,  it isn't there.

Whose responsibility is it to evaluate talent and then develop said talent?

I just find it funny that the one media member who tries to write "tough" (Bolin), is the one who is the most careful when asking questions.

You'd think Bolin was a mean ol' cuss with the articles he writes but he refuses to ask good questions in the conferences.

Because our fan base allows this without calling them out.  Bolin is a troll in writing and a saint in front any staff.  Yet many that believe his every word dont realize this.

If that were actually true it's an even bigger indictment on the HC.

Doing less with more?  Yeah, we have a new leader for that title.

I meant to say coaching transition.

I've never liked his 'shooting from the lip' trash talk. It seemed to me the sign of a small mind.

This smacks of HDN in his final time here. He knows his goose is cooked, with little prospect of finding a new gig right away. Hope he has tucked away for a rainy day.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who is finding correlation between now and ten years ago.  Offensive line issues, unwilling to place the blame on Anderson/Markuson, blaming players, was all rah-rah when things were good but now is turning on his guys... just a lot of quacking and waddling, so I'm gonna call this duck a duck.

I believe CBB is a marketing genius and did a solid job of developing a "brand" in Fayetteville.  However, no one cares about your branding if your product is overpriced and horrible.  There's a reason no one is wearing Busta Rhymes' Bushi Sport label...

Some are saying that BB may lose the team.  Except for a few fleeting moments, he has been losing the team since year 1.  But last year he pretty much lost it completely and he hasn't had the team this year at all.  This team is done.  There may be a few newbies start getting playing time and showing energy but overall, this team has quit and I really cannot blame them.  The leader doesn't understand mental toughness.

Bert is trying to usher in that buyout money.  It was obvious in his post game remarks that he has given up & doesn't care anymore.

Well,  is he throwing players under the bus,  or is he just telling the truth?  There does not seem to be a lot of talent and play makers on this team.

If only we could find the SOB whose job it is to go out and get that talent!

Do YOU believe we are playing our most talented lineman or playing the guys who seem to perform better in practice? Is it possible he is playing favorites? Maybe some guys are doing better in class or being more enthusiastic during practice?

I have no idea since I don't see practice but it's hard to figure out how a true freshman walk on/blueshirt has beaten out 4 star 2 and 3 year players who have experience.

If he is playing favorites and giving certain guys more leeway while not affording the same to others is it possible there is a lot dissension among the players?

Honest questions...I just don't know. It could be a combo of all those things.

AA through 2 years has been the most hit QB in all of NCAA fb. No one can convince me that Pittman being replaced by Anderson isn't most of the problem. That's not just a coincidence. I also think some of it lies with AA and bad reads and holding the ball too long not to mention naked boots right into defender blitzing or staying home. Some of its on the play calling.

I am as frustrated as anyone else, and I would agree that most of it lands at Brett's feet and that he's probably done here, but before you angrily post in this thread you should probably listen to the interview.  To listen to that interview and come away with the notion that he is throwing players under the bus is beyond a stretch.  He was as complimentary of the players as he could be after the performance on Saturday, and I could not see anywhere where he threw anyone under the bus. Bielema has plenty of faults, we don't need to manufacture them.

Not sure what there is to get ugly...both parties signed a ridiculous contract.  Only way it gets ugly is if UA tries to get out of paying what they all agreed to.  And CBB will win if it comes to that.

Oh, I don't doubt you!  I'm just saying that UA is the one that's most likely the party that's gonna cause a stink--it was a horrible contract to start with.

The $15M buyout has already been contracted.  Any payout less than that would be out of the graciousness of CBB's heart (and Jenn's!!).

But there were plenty of Central Arkansas people who liked and respected his father.
And I guess many who remembered Nutt's high school playing days.

I don't have any idea on the o-line, I didn't watch any practices this fall. All I can go on is FOTH, he seemed to indicate they were playing the best guys. As to playing favorites, maybe the play the guys they trust, again, I don't have a clue on the staff.

I will agree the o-line is terrible, and the blame calls on the staff, as do all the problems. I also don't see him pulling a Gary Andersen, he isn't quoting mid-season, or leaving money on the table. Want to get on that?   8)

No, not at this point.  I thought he may be able to survive one more year just because of the 11.4 million on January 1, but there's now no way. Long is also starting to finally get pressure as well.

I think throwing players under the bus is saying "Hey Colton really stunk it up out there we could have won if not for him".  He was asked a specific question " Do you think it is a personnel issue" and he responded "a coach is only going to be able to coach at the level of what the personnel is, if we had a few more players depth wise that could have matured and been in the position to play right now (that would be better).  This is after he just finished saying that his biggest regret is that he didn't recruit a few more linemen 3 or 4 years ago.  Then he went on to praise most of the linemen by name.  This, in my opinion is not throwing anyone under the bus.  Again Bielema has plenty of issues that we can point out, I don't see the need to manufacture new ones.

Kansas State or maybe Iowa or Iowa St. Now, after the train wreck of a season not only do I think he won't get another P5 job, I think he won't get another D1 job again for some time. He may have to go the Bo Pelini route. Go FCS or D2 and in four-five years of running a program a C-USA or MAC team will give him another try.

Yes, you are on point and have shown the irony in his admission: Bielema's revelation shows more about him than the player and it isn't good.
