GAME 15 Thread: Doubleheader Game 1 #16 ARKANSAS (9-5, 0-0 SEC) vs. #5 VANDERBILT (13-4, 0-0 SEC)

FIRST PITCH OF GAME 1 OF DOUBLE HEADER IS SET FOR SATURDAY at 1:00pm . This game was originally scheduled for Friday evening.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm tonight (as of this posting). We will be watching the weather closely as rain is predicted in Nashville. The game will be shown online on SEC Network+. There is no regular TV coverage of this game.

This is the first SEC series of the 2015 season for both #16 Arkansas and #5 Vanderbilt. The Razorbacks are currently riding a 3 game losing streak while Vanderbilt is 2-2 in their last 4 games. Both teams look to get off to a good start in conference play as the Hogs will send talented freshman right hander Keaton McKinney (3.45era) to the mound for his 4th straight start and Vanderbilt will counter with right hander Carson Fulmer (.081era) who is expected to be a first round draft pick in June. Both teams are  highly ranked nationally in hitting as Vanderbilt is #7 in Team Batting Average (.321) and Arkansas (.315) is #14. Arkansas leads Vanderbilt in Team Slugging at .491% (#5 nat'l) to .460% (#18 nat'l) respectively.

Arkansas is 29-23 all-time against Vanderbilt, including taking two of three from the defending National Champions last season at Baum Stadium. In the 45-year history of the series, Arkansas has never lost a three-game series in Nashville, going 13-8 all-time.

Vandy isn't unbeatable but they are salty. \

we weren't done any favors by the scheduling staff when they gave us vandy, lsu and ole miss to start the season. We're likely to lose our first 3 sec series. But if they can hang tough and battle through it the rest of our conference slate should lighten up a bit.

Heard Vandy's artificial turf drains off pretty well. Last night's postponement was something like the first in three years when they laid the turf down (or something like that).
