Your info is wrong.  We sent a kid a LOI, the kid was going to go in a different direction so he has to verify that Loi is no longer sign able before he could send out another one.

This is speculation on my part, they decided they wanted Sykes, and told Scott we didn't have a place for him after we had originally offered. So all of that means one of either Hill or Weathersby had an offer on the table yesterday but not both.........or both had offers yesterday morning and Reed ended up getting one of the two when they went elsewhere.

they kept one for K.J. I'm of the opinion we still would have taken Reed even if K.J. Would have signed with us. It will be interesting to see some fall out from other schools asking kids to gray shirt. (auburn lost a 4 star today to K. State for that reason).  Long story short, I'm sure  we have plenty of good options for the last scholarship.

I don't think so.  I think the one they were hoping to get was Weathersby, and when he chose LSU we had no immediate back up plan.

They've known Weathersby was gone for a few days now. They had a spot for KJ. He was the hometown kid, you never know but the emotion of signing at his school may lead him to want to stay home. And when you add in the fact that BB was recruiting him via twitter a couple days ago, it shows that Bielema thought they had a chance even if it was a small chance.

It seems like a few of you don't realize how hard it is to land on an exact number with 17-year old kids changing their mind, flipping coins, etc.  The coaches work extremely hard to get to the right number, and there are undoubtedly many tricky conversations the UA staff has with recruits, parents, coaches, etc. 

Coaches try to get the recruits to let them know in advance, but some kids either can't or don't want to make up their mind until the bitter end.

One short isn't a huge deal, and there now is an opportunity to catch a great player that may have delayed for some reason.

yes, but a team can only have 85 on scholarship total, so if you keep everyone and all stay eligible and don't transfer then you can never have the full 25 per year.  I think we graduated something like 18 last year and only had a few transfer/get booted.

They give players an orange shirt, that is after they have earned their blue shirt, but first they must take a grey shirt. This allows them to sign as many players as they want.

BB said they had room for 28 but could only sign 25 per sec rules. They had a bad January and did not have a back-up when they went 0 fer on their main targets. When BB offers and accepts LOI from players who have never visited, common sense tells you they were indeed scrambling to fill the last spots.
