What or who can save the pro wrestling business? The PG era is not working, almost everyone from the attitude era is older and physically can't wrestle anymore. Did moving to Sports Entertainment kill pro wrestling?

Eddie Goodson

No, the move to be a publicly traded company has ensured the attitude era will not return. That and the death of territories and competition has limited the ability for wrestlers to develop.

Death of territories and then death of WCW killed the business... Wwe could literally be half as successful and would still be on top... As a matter of fact, financially they have. Lol

Move Raw back to 2 hours, assemble a writing staff that has long term vision and fresh ideas, make the mid-card meaningful again (especially the title picture), stop recycling the same matches week in and week out, quit the comedy acts, and finally, try to appeal to the adult fan.

On that last note, that can be done and stay PG.  I'm not talking about anything raunchy.  The show is so geared to kids, it's insulting to the parents.

Missed watching RAW last night for the first time since WM30...and honestly didn't care.

HHH & creative have yet again effectively killed any and all mo from WM.  Though injuries to their big names haven't helped, it's shown that the WWE have not been working on Plan B (pun intended) when it comes to pushing & developing the younger guys.

At some point, Cena will leave and Brock will succumb to wear & tear.  Then what...or who?  There is so much wrong with it and has been since the demise of WCW and the territories.  The Monday Night War was SO cool that you could overlook a few of the "off" nights from both companies.  However, there are some elements to RAW I see in this day & age that probably even make Public Access stations cringe w/embarrassment.  How can Vince & Trips watch some of these segments and STILL think it's quality stuff?

Grateful there's a show like Busted Open on Sirius XM where all elements of WWE / RAW / Smackdown / the bidness can be dissected and fans can call & vent.  Sadly, though we know the WWE listens, they still haven't shown much propensity to fix this train wreck.

The_Iceman

Need to hire a fresh creative writing staff.

Go back Regional and forget this nation wide business.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

the problem with that is the man in charge has no inspiration to want that to happen.  Oh I really wish regional would come back  I really miss all the tv shows through Saturday with each region showing their best

hawgs34

The problem might not necessarily be with the writing staff but the man they are writing for.

Stephany needs to dump HHH. He is just not good enough to be the face of the franchise.

I haven't watched it regularly in years, but when I did, there were too many shows.  no way a creative writing staff could keep it up forever....I mean, who do they think they are, Shonda Rimes?

Remove Vince McMahon and his absolute micromanaging of all angles from the company.

Blaming anyone else is pointless - everything goes through Vince.

I'd like to watch my wrestling and frankly any other entertainment or sport without being inundated with political advertisements and breast cancer awareness/domestic violence psa's and specialty features. John Cena coming out to embrace Joan Lunden and escort her off stage was a little thick.

Rant over.

I feel for all those effected and I don't mean to sound callous, but c'mon.

Pro wrestling is dead. It has been since the 80s. The sooner you can deal with the sooner you can move on.

And yet you're somehow interested enough to click on the wrestling forum.

There is an overexposure which leads to poor storylines and undeveloped talent.  Also with the death of the territories we have ended up with the same matches between the same wrestlers over and over again.

I hope New Japan or ROH decides to make a push once the funeral service for TNA is held.
Well see, there's your problem. What you should be thinking is, what would Harry Rex do?

People in abusive relationships many times stay in those relationships. I keep up with it for the most part. I read the results, but I haven't watched any new stuff since Money in the Bank. I would defiantly rather discuss it than watch it at this point. It is something I want to like.

The OP asked what can say pro wrestling? Nothing can, it is dead. Show me an example of pro wrestling, today. Not a bad comedy variety show, not a second rate bad comedy variety show, or some gymnastic exhibition.

This combined with being a corporate company is killing the WWE. A hot dog cart instead of a beer truck just shows how far it was fallen. 7 hours a week of the same guys is way too much. Even if you just watch RAW, 3 hours is too long for one show.

If 7 hours a week is too much for you, read a book, play with your kids, take your wife to dinner, and only watch what you want.

Internet wrestling fans are insufferable. Everybody knows more sbout what's wrong thsn anyone else. Pissing and moaning over wrestling not bring like it was thirty to thirty five years ago is pointless. I challenge anyone to dhow me how TELEVISED wrestling matches were better than today's matches. There are some really good inring matches every single week across all WWE programs. Some of you are romanticizing about how good the actual wretling was back then. Wrestler in better shape than ever, do more moves than ever, and do not subject us to several minutes of arm bars, head locks, and leg scissors for every match becauae they are out of shape and are just filling time to make matches last longer.

People can pine for the days of old wrestling and yes, it was better when I was younger and could get up and watch Mid-South in the morning, catch GA Championship Wrestling at 5 for a couple of hours and then catch the Von Erichs territory that night.

However, almost all of the matches were squash matches against guys that never had a chance of winning. Usually there were only 1 or 2 matches that you didn't know who was going to win and the jobbers were usually complete slobs. Thankful it's not like that anymore.

ok i get you. but do you have to post it over and over and over and over? and for the 100th time. Mike is going to be coach here no matter if you like it or not.

One thing I can't stand are smarks. What do they know?

Honestly a smark (internet fans) are still fans. Most internet fans were fans long before wrestling blogs, youtube channels and spoilers were even around.

One thing about internet fans is that something brought them to watch wrestling. Something brought them to be a fan of wrestling. And whether "true" wrestling want to believe it, something will be worth watching again if the current product isn't entertaining. And the WWE is an entertainment business.

Want to know everything that is RIGHT with Wrestling today.

NXT.

That my friends gives me hope for what the future holds. Hunter is a genius for what he has created down there and has put the future of the business in good hands for generations to come.

Yet what of the (perhaps dying) arts of ring psychology and the ability to sell?

A "crappy wrestling match" between two characters the fans are invested in >>>>>> so called 5* match between two "technicians" that no one gives a s*** about

DeltaBoy

Cut it back to 3 hours a week and 2 hours of it on Saturday and one hour some other time.   Go back to Regional and bring back Memphis and Mid South , Use the Sherman Anti trust act and if need be FORCE Vince to break it up since he basically made a national monopoly.
